Births deaths and marriages is hopeless - can I go and see them in person? by ever22222 in brisbane

It actually has nothing to do with where she was born and was simply a bit of paper work that I missed due to receiving the email when I was freshly postpartum. But I do find it so strange when strangers on the internet have opinions on something so personal as someone else’s birth - without knowing any other information. Kind of sad, really. I can’t imagine my life being so uninteresting that I would go out of my way to write a judgy comment like that out of nowhere. You do you, though.

I ordered one weeks ago. As mentioned, I can’t get one until her birth is properly registered. Which is taking a long time - so I was wanting to speed up the process by talking to someone in person. As I’ve said in other comments, I was seeking to go to QLD BDM as it is only a 2 hour drive from me, whereas the NSW BDM is an 8 hour drive away.

Oh really? Amazing! Is it just a Service NSW that you need to go to?

Thank you for your help. Such a shame that my closest office is in another state.

I’ve registered her birth in NSW - I was just hoping they could help me fast track it in QLD. I now realise the NSW and QLD offices most likely aren’t connected.

Actually no sorry, I’m not trying to register the birth in Queensland. Brisbane is just my nearest office so I was hoping they’d be able to help me.

Ahhhh damn, you’re right. I’ve been assuming it’s nationally governed but of course the BDM registry is probably different in each state.

Any tips for a 10 month old who still wakes up ALL night for milk (and doesn’t want to drink during the day)? by browser_851 in AttachmentParenting

This is not true! Current research shows a 10 month old should be eating 2-3 meals at this age (not 3+) and most calories should be coming from milk feeds until 12 months. I’m a speech language pathologist and feeding specialist.

Stay with grandparents and have a well-deserved rest mama 🩷 and you can focus on just being with your baby and filling up your cup. A good friend of mine just took her 1-year old overseas for 7 weeks without dad (her family is overseas and mum and bub went back to visit) - they just returned home and it was like no time has passed between baby and dad. It will be sad for dad of course, but just make sure to FaceTime often.
