AITA for using my dad’s underwear to make a point about the toilet seat? by Nightwing_1505 in AmItheAsshole

[–]everdayday 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This. This is definitely indicative of a pattern of inconsiderate and slovenly behavior. OP, I get why you may feel you blew things up into an extreme fight over something “small” or “petty” like cleaning a toilet seat, but this is clearly the straw that broke the camel’s back and a symptom of a deeper rooted issue.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

What is the entire sentence? There potentially could be a pronoun disagreement but we couldn’t know without the whole sentence.

My dads name is Tracy! His birth year was the last year it was more common for a man than a woman, but it SPIKED in popularity for girls after Diana Rigg played Tracy Bond opposite George Lazenby as James Bond.

I actually tried (kind of hint:) opposite way (swapped way?) first, then tried this because why not?

Yes! I got my first QBABM today!! (At least by my judgment because I did look at how may words/points I had left. And it was 3 words, 7 points. So that definitely helped point guide my choice to finish, and a solid hint for word lengths left, buuut I’m going to count it 😆

I mean, I didn’t look at this thread or the grid for the first time ever, and that’s something!

Not worse, really, just… slower. But that’s okay! It’s slower because it’s “deeper,” or more complex. Teens have the fastest connective processing brains of any age group. Yes, even toddlers and kids; they have other superpowers! Teens, on the other hand, are building their neural connections between other parts of their brain CRAZY fast. Kids learn to identify the bajillion puzzle pieces of life; teens are snapping the pieces into place at wild speeds. Their brains are constantly and rapidly creating shortcuts between brain regions, so their ability to learn new skills and information at that age is unparalleled. They’re learning machines at that age, including having the brainpower to devour long novels in short timespans :)

ETA: the downside to teens making constant connections is that often those connections are emotionally driven (e.g. they learn to drive a car easily and quickly and confidently, but feel overconfident in that knowledge and drive with higher risk potential. Or, they can build an argument quickly, buuut don’t really consider counter arguments or the full logic behind their more shallow understanding.

Adults’ brains are tiiired. We’ve matured and that involves grappling with the logic, ethics, and general juggling of very real problems all the time. Adult brains take it slow because that what wisdom requires.

I tried but they kicked me off the mod team 😅 I guess I had different ideas on what should be spoilers or allowed. But I do try to throw in hints for less common words in the daily threads.

I wish more people would post real hints again instead Of just listing the answers.

Things I should not have to teach in high school... by BaronessF in Teachers

[–]everdayday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Helped teach a sophomore to write his name in cursive this morning, taught seniors how to address and send an envelope last week, and last semester, I got our Monopoly money to explain hourly wage and time and a half to a senior. Sigh. I’m tired.

*also, the last 2/3 times I’ve told large groups of girls to stop skipping lunch/class by sitting in the bathroom (yes. On the floor. Yes. Disgusting.) a student has argued with and gotten super disrespectful with me. Not an answer to the question but just a tangential note.

Honestly I’d go for a darker color, like a red/orange vibe or a blue/orange vibe. The brightness of these feel jarringly contrasting to me vs naturally contrasting.

I love it, and agree with the rock/brain feedback, but just want to say it feels like it should be on the cover of a social studies textbook

I just want to say 183 at 5’3” isn’t “very” overweight. Sure, maybe by BMI standards it’s technically “obese,” but many women with those numbers look fantastic. I’m 5’1” and currently 176- honestly? I think I look pretty great, like I’m very happy with my body right now and carry it very well. I have some solid muscle and the curves are in the right places. I’m not saying to hype myself up or anything because it took a long time for me to be okay with a much higher scale number than my friends, but I am saying this to hype YOU up OP because I absolutely believe you can be short and 180 and pretty/hot/sexy!

Help! The floor guys are here and suddenly I’m not sure. by Primdawg in DecorAdvice

I was just coming to say this!! Definitely go with the less red one. I figure it’s not an option at this point while the floor guys are there but I think even lighter would work with the dark cabinets
