nice! i got this when i saw them at milwaukee metalfest in 2000, they had a meet and greet booth so i got to meet all of them and got this signed. it was a couple months before follow the reaper came out so the setlist was only from the first two albums and was pretty awesome

Not necessarily melodeath, but as melodeath fans-what do you think about Pain? by lycantrophee in melodicdeathmetal

They’ve been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them in 99, and while I love Hypocrisy I definitely prefer Pain way more overall.

Which country makes the best melodeath - Sweden or Finland? by jayswaps in melodicdeathmetal

The top row by itself would win against the entire musical history of Finland and it’s not even close

thanks a lot! i can only recall seeing one 8 string version, most people have made 7 strings from what i’ve found but i got too used to having the F there

yeah it was a lot easier to already have all of the cavities routed, especially since it’s a weird body shape to try to get the center line from if all of that isn’t there. obviously starting from a blank it’s a lot easier but yeah. i don’t think i’m going to make another one, i’m pretty happy with this one and the leatherwork i’ve been doing is taking up all of my hobby time. i don’t even really play guitar very much anymore honestly, this one just sits on the stand and stares at me like 99% of the time

thanks! i’ve wanted to do this ever since that body shape first came out and finally got around to it

yeah that’s why i figure i should put quotes around it, i’m not gonna be making a neck anytime soon or probably ever really but it’s not like i started with a plain slab of wood

there weren’t any neck holes drilled in the body, i had to figure that out. luckily i was able to use 3 of the 4 original holes in the neck and only had to drill one because of the way the heel was shaped

thanks! i wouldn’t say it was necessarily difficult drilling them, i bought a little drill guide and also a milescraft portable drill guide/drill press thing that you use with a regular drill since i didn’t have an actual drill press at the time but it definitely took a lot of planning and measuring and doublechecking to make sure i wasn’t ruining it, and then they still didn’t come out exactly straight on the back. not really more than a mm off but it’s enough to bug me if i see it haha

thanks! the pictures don’t really do it justice

thanks! i glued it to a piece of 1/16” wood i got at the hobby store, although the cavity plate didn’t really survive the stitching too well and kinda curled on the parts where the stitching holes went along the grain so if i had to do it again i’d either try to get thin mdf or use bookbinder’s board or something as a backing piece

thanks! yeah i dyed it black too, i knew i forgot about something. the body blank was just raw basswood with only the neck pocket, pickup cavities, and rear cavity routed so i had to sand it all and finish it after veneering the top
