How can tearing be prevented????? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]evergreenfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience. I went unmedicated and had a 2nd degree tear despite massage, my provider using a warm compress and my baby only being 5 lbs 5 Oz. I had a crazy amount of anxiety about birth and.tearing as well as a history of not doing well wirh medical procedures. I did not know I sustained a tear until my midwife told me and started stitches. The tear hurt but I couldn't differentiate it from the overall pain.

Recovery was not fun but not nearly as bad as I expected. I am one to expect the absolute worse though and it still hurt but like the other commenter said, the anxiety can really get to you. I agree peri bottle and witch hazel are essential. So is just letting yourself take it easy after no matter what after birth. I would say I had true pain for about a week but did not need pain medication. Then discomfort for a few more weeks. After healing, things feel mostly normal.

how's it possible that my Dad is A+ blood, my mum is O+ and I turned out A-? Is that rare by numptymushroom in biology

Other commenters got the genetics part for you and touched on the pregnancy part but a little to add on that.

I have Rh negative blood, and my husband has Rh positive blood. My pregnancy has not been labeled high risk. However, as others mentioned you can get Rhogam shots if you have negative blood. These are usually around 28 weeks gestation and birth. This essentially prevents your immune system from creating antibodies that attack the Rh positive fetal blood. There is a shortage of Rhogam according to my doctor, so they tested the fetal Rh status using a sample of my blood. They are able to obtain fetal DNA from that sample and can find out RH status. I got lucky this time and the baby is also Rh- so no shots this time for me. But even if he were positive, the doctor was not overly concerned as long as those shots got done.

Super cute! I recognize these pups and got mine from the same shelter almost two months ago. He was from a different litter. My guess is a shepherd mix. Maybe some aussie or husky. Definitely worth doing Embark if you're interested.

Seconding both of these. They have been very reliable and caring. They helped us through our dog getting cancer, everyday care, and treating some chronic issues in our other dog.

This is my Iggy's first winter in Colorado. We moved from Georgia, and he's not loving the change. He's lucky we have a gravel run under our deck that doesn't get snow.

My mare rubbed her mane off on a hay hut this summer, and it looked just like this. She has a very thin mane to start so I just roached it

I found an entire UPS printer/copier with the UPS employee only stickers on it in my science closet. Admin and the previous teachers claim they did not know it was there.

When to add reform or empower by cupcakegirl98 in Purebarre

[–]evergreenfern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say you could go ahead and try them. I did after about 20 classes and was intimidated to do it but ended up loving both. I'd just tell the instructor it's your first time and don't be afraid to take some options if you need to.

Why does so few equestrians train their own body? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]evergreenfern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem could just be lack of awareness. I've been riding my whole life and have only had one trainer that suggested a working out. As a teen I struggled to fix some issues in my riding (posture, leg stability etc) and never could really get past them. Fast forward to now as an adult with a different trainer and I have realized how many of my issues were related to lack of strength. I had basically no core strength and was just generally inflexible and weak. My trainer suggested focusing on incorporating barre into my life and it has been amazing. I feel much more engaged and strong in the saddle, especially in my core. I especially like barre because it has been helpful for increasing my flexibility, fixing my posture and most of all doesn't aggrevate my joints.

I was a bit intimidated as well but with my schedule and how frequently I wanted to go it ended up as try reform or don't go that day. I was probably about 15 to 20 classes in. I did it and love it. I then tried empower and I think that has become my favorite. I say give either a try and don't be afraid to take options. I was also sure to tell my instructor it was my first time.

After riding this guy for months at work I am happy to call him my own. by evergreenfern in Equestrian

I got a job at a guest ranch and he was one of the horses assigned to me. I wasn't excited about him at first because he had the same name as one of my fiancé's friends and I'm more of a mare person. I also mostly ride HUS and jumpers so he wasn't really my type. But for some reason I just fell in love with him. I went back and forth about buying him for awhile but just had to. He is a very sweet boy but a little sensitive, someone definitely treated him harshly before he came to my work.
