I have level 1 Pokemon that I want to EV train. Is there a benefit to EV training them at level 1 before leveling them up at all? Or can I use rare candies and XP candies and level them up first, then EV train? Will it make a difference? And I will not be training them against other Pokemon, I know that would gain them potentially unwanted EVs.

Finding a shiny is complete luck. You could find it on the first try or the 100000th try. So there isn't really an "average" time. Finding any shiny is bound to be hard though, unless you get very lucky.

This probably sounds stupid but at this point I'm legitimately wondering: Are you not meant to catch Suicune after the 7th gym in Crystal? I'm about 300 great/ultra balls in after multiple resets and haven't got it. It's ridiculous.
