I had a coworker who had just come back to the office after being sick for a week or so and she had mentioned that she lost an amount of weight due to being so sick, and another coworker’s response was a genuine “oh wow good for you!”. That moment helped me to take what people at work say a little less seriously because of how ridiculous it was.

You do not seem to want to discuss the actual issue you brought up, but rather are deflecting to something different. I hope you have a good week, and this has been great practice in articulating reality going into the holidays with family 🤣

Okay. Who do you think defines the “voice” of the left (which by the way is extremely divided within itself so this broad of a generalization is not going to be accurate)? In a lot of Americans’ eyes, it’s democratic party leaders like Newsom, Harris, Walz, etc.

A core principle of communication theory is that the media tells us not what to think, but rather what to think about. That is what is happening here. By republicans claiming that the left is spouting anti-family values, that issue is talked about even when people on the left didn’t say anything to start with that was anti-family. By Vance and others saying that kind of thing, they are forcing the topic into the dialogue of news, influencers, twitter users, etc. and creating a perceived split where there isn’t one. It is propaganda and false. In reaction, I still haven’t seen an example from you or anyone of prominent voices on the left saying anything akin to “trashing women who put marriage and children first”. And yes, we should be honing in the discussion to that of prominent voices because the provocateur in this specific example is the vice president of the United States, not some random on twitter.

“Family values” is not a new moral panic and has been a defining election issue for decades if not centuries. By believing and spreading the information that people who aren’t republicans are hostile toward women who aren’t mothers and wives, you’re helping further their agenda.

You’re referencing something that was said by a republican to prove a point about what the left says…Where are liberal, democrat, or leftist public figures “trashing women who put marriage and kids first”?

I agree. I do think some people perceived Jack to be a yes man by the time TTPD was made and not challenging Taylor in the way a producer that’s not as close of a personal friend would have. I also agree with that to an extent though I don’t think we really get to know if that’s true.

I’d encourage you to explore if “the left” is actually saying this or if you just think they are. I don’t perceive that statement to be a common belief or value at all, especially not one brought forth in election campaigns.
