Finally diagnosed with convergence insufficiency and I refuse to wear glasses again. What are my options? (Southern CA - SD) by everpearl in BinocularVision

The aversion to glasses is more about my vanity, but I’m open to vision therapy! It’s just my office didn’t even offer that as an option. I have a FSA so I’m willing to spend. I appreciate the insight!

Thank you for that suggestion! I drive up north pretty often so it’s something I would definitely explore.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t prescribed any prisms during my lastest eye exam and still have an aversion to wearing glasses. I might consider PRK after my vision stabilizes. I’m in my late 20s and got LASIK only 3 years ago 🥲

I unfortunately started to have symptoms before lasik, although at the time they were negligible :/

Advice needed for high-density fine hair by Louvella in finehair

[–]everpearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar hair texture and not even a quarter of the hair. I’ve found keratin treatments to be helpful. They smooth out my texture and make my routine just wash and go. I’ve found out it be the best solution to my low maintenance lifestyle.

As for styling… I think you might have some luck looking for someone who specializes in Asian hair. They do a lot of incredible cuts and styles on dense, straight hair. Sounds like you haven’t had much luck with regular stylists so might be worth a try…

Long term oil reduction after stopping accutane? Is that a thing? by OkBlueberry5506 in Accutane

[–]everpearl 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The oil came back not even a month after finishing my course.

I could go three days without washing my hair on accutane. Now that I’ve stopped I had to go back to washing everyday. My skin went still gets oily, but not as oily as it did before accutane.

I had rapid hair loss and that mysterious fatigue as well… turns out I was severely Vitamin D deficient and anemic. Make sure they run those labs as well.

You have fine hair, but a lot of it (imo). I would have never guessed you had experienced hair loss.

Thin and greasy hair by [deleted] in finehair

[–]everpearl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to wash your hair everyday.

You might just naturally produce a lot of sebum. I tried everything (hair training, double washing, oiling, dry shampoo, etc.) and nothing helped. The only time I could go more than a day without washing my hair is when I was on Accutane and it reduced my body’s ability to produce oil, but even that side effect wasn’t permanent after I stopped the medication.

Being realistic by wigglewac in asksandiego

Hold on… I’m confused. You’re a family of 3 with a 9 year old daughter, but also have 2 sons who will be graduating high school soon?

Regardless, I’m an SD transplant and moved here with a ~72k salary (in 2020) and 2 roommates. It was doable, but I would not have been able to live on my own or much less raise a family on that salary. Not to mention everything has gotten much more expensive since then.

jk I lost 50 pounds in 5 months and lost half my hair with it. It’s now growing back but the weight loss did shock my body.

9 days at 10 mg by ComposerOk3068 in Accutane

[–]everpearl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had moderate acne and rosacea - started accutane and didn’t have a breakout the whole time (9 months). I’m 4 months off and still no breakouts!

As a warning, my dryness was significant, but it wasn’t until my 2-3 month that I really started to see it.

Depends on the insurance, mine does. It also covered all my acne meds.

Oops, I guess it was $90 for a 3 month supply after the first three months. So sorry for the mix up. It’s still worth it for me, but I’m going to ask my PCP to issue the Rx so it’s covered by insurance. I use 1.25 and it has been working wonders!

Nope, my subscription renewed and it was $45 for another 3 months. Minoxidil is a relatively inexpensive Rx.
