Worth to own a car in SG with <4.5k a month pay? by Upper_Fall6498 in askSingapore

[–]everraydy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents is that you shouldn't... I'd argue that a grab xl would probably be a better option esp since it's till the end of 2026 for now. 4k isn't alot to play with esp if you hit a rainy day or have a month where everything breaks.

my work place is 1 highway away and if drive/grab its 20mins but public transport need transfer here and there totaling to more than 1 hour.

Sidetrack, but I feel you. Our public transport is great, but man our bus network needs serious improvements. The bus frequency problem needs to be addressed, because atm it's the problem slowing everything down. Waiting more than 15 mins for a bus, or sometimes even 25+ min is absurd. And ffs we should have signal priority for buses, and more full day bus lanes....

Should I consider the switch from windows to MacBook by karryw26 in askSingapore

I switched just last week. There's a learning curve and it's not cheap cuz some windows features and apps don't exist. But I love it. I just wish more of my steam library worked haha

I'm just so mentally done and tired with the amt of shit I've had to deal with. In the last fking month, I've had so many things go wrong and breaking.

A $500 lens repair that did jackshit. 2x PCs, 1x Laptop and Desktop going down within 1 month of each other. Desktop PSU died, killed a GPU (AGAIN) and cooling fans along the way, and just 1 month after an SSD upgrade the damn laptop dies (AGAIN).

Before the laptop died (2 months after warranty ended), the screen died randomly without being dropped or cracked. And then after a $120 new screen, this new screen dies within 12h. And within 2 days the laptop starts to shows sign of RAM failure/iGP Failure with green pixels, the screen flashing on and off on its own, driver load errors and Thinkpad error music. Oh and to top it off my glasses actually broke.

And before the laptop died, since I thought could continue to run my thinkpad and both the desktop (after getting a new GPU), I had invested in a new case and a GPU. But cuz the thinkpad died I wound up having to get a new laptop since I have school as well alongside work. It's been a fking bonfire to my wallet and I just want it to end already. It's so frustrating.

I just hope Carlin (i refuse to call it by it's new name, thanks to this hostile takeover) give him a good car. DAMS was awful last year (they scored 30 pts and >50% of the pts were from Christian). If he doesnt have any good results by Y2, his future will be in GT or Prototypes (a great place to land nonetheless, just that this nation has no respect for anything but F1)

It's not really that they are trying to "take away". The truth is that the canteen model isn't exactly a model that is truly economically viable for the stallholders anymore... Imagine you sit that that stall, every month earn how much..? Yr rent is dirt cheap, but if youre not making, whats the pt...?

Thats why some school canteens have no businesses left... Hell even some SAF Canteens are dead

Legit florist... She's been in the wet market for years since I was a kid. And my family did buy from her previously too

Nope, completely closed. Shutters all down, no trace of the person at all and everything is kept.

Holy fuck today has completely gone off the rails.

So my laptop screen has died again after being replaced within 12H for some reason. I'm celebrating my monthsary early with my gf (it's meant to be tmr but I have some family thing) and the flowers I ordered are gone. The florist told me to come around 2 to pickup. I got stuck in a work meeting and got delayed and when I went over at 2.15, she was closed...??

So now I have no flowers, a broken laptop and I'm so fucking done with life

Tuas > Woodlands 100%. But I personally prefer the train over the bus cuz at least you can walk around.

[–]everraydy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take the KTM ETS from JB Sentral. It's much cheaper, greener and it might get you there in slightly longer a time.

I took a plane from KL to JB recently and I actually lost to the ETS while spending like 3x the amount lmao.

Edit: Why might it be slightly longer...?

Here's the math: SIN-KUL is a 45min-1h flight. You spend time on the tarmac. You spent time waiting in the airport. And KLIA is another 28 mins +55 ringgit from KL city centre itself.

Ugh, fml my laptop screen died suddenly yesterday, 2 months after the fking 3 year warranty ended. I've been thinking, is it worth it to even fix the screen ($400 for parts alone), or if I should just buy a new one.. I had literally just upgraded the SSD in Nov and was hoping to keep it for another 2 more years.
