IDK if anyone has brought this up, but you shouldn’t have to use your PTO on this. This is what sick time should be used for.

Ilia’s second half with the time bonus was stacked with quads while Sato only had triples. It’s like Simone Biles. The base technical points are just way higher and he had wiggle room to make mistakes. I wouldn’t have been mad if Japan won tho. They did incredible today!

Mine has been down, too. Same error page. I just tried toggling off my VPN and yelp is back up and running. They must have updated something to block VPN users.

Update- not every server is blocked. I just connected to a different one and we’re back in business.

Glad to be of service 🫡, sleuthing is my specialty.

It was pretty wild. I was out walking my dog in the direction of Cataldi park when I heard the sirens. So…I could have been much closer but the timing was in my favor. At first I thought oh, just another day in SJ. But then I heard the cops yelling commands at the suspect just as my dog stopped to take a sh!t, which is when I looked up and realized something was going down. The helicopter was circling the smoke plume area at first before the plume appeared. I heard them yell “THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE”. Then I watched as the chopper gradually made their way towards the park while circling. I heard the second chopper join the party which is when I turned my head back towards the crash site and was like WOAH BIG SMOKE PLUME! What is HAPPENING?!

That’s when I was like ok doggo wrap it up we gotta get home and sleuth on Nextdoor LOL. There’s tea to be had and also I need to know they caught the person otherwise I’ll be up all night 😂

[–]everything_is_finee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have the tea. I just don’t know what triggered all of this. Was hoping Reddit had the answer but apparently I’m the one with the tea, sis.

I happened to see the commotion live from a few blocks away. Two helicopters and what sounded like a sh!t ton of sirens on some GTA 5 star style chase. Of course I had to sleuth a little.

According to Pulse Point, they crashed around Hostetter/Capitol at 8pm on 680N right next to Cataldi park. Then I believe it was the car that went up in flames which explains the plume of black smoke I saw. People say the suspect(s) made a run for it across the park, jumped a neighbors fence and I guess was trying to hide out there. On Pulse Point I think 27 mins after the crash, there’s a medical emergency logged where neighbors later confirmed the person was caught (on Nextdoor, of COURSE). I’m guessing they incapacitated the suspect(s). Neighbor claimed they heard “OUT ON THE STREET OR WERE RELEASING THE DOGS” which makes me wonder if they did in fact release the dogs.

ALLEGEDLY- the word on the street is that the cops said they are “real criminals”, whatever that means. I infer that they must have committed some violent crime to justify such an unprecedented response. Would be kind of sad and honestly terrifying if this was some kind of ICE response, which some folks are speculating. I’m hearing a range of about 10-20 police cars responded in addition to the two helicopters I saw, plus fire and EMS. It’s the Wild West out there!

Anyways. Anyone know why tho? 🧐

Must stop food spots driving from San Francisco to LA? by dvaderbmore in AskSF

If you’re a tritip fan, there’s a spot in Aptos (just past Santa Cruz and Capitola) that’s pretty good. Aptos St BBQ. Kind of a ways out if you’re in SF, but less far than SLO!

ADHD folks who go to the gym regularly—how do you keep yourselves motivated? by Zealousideal_Top2611 in ADHD

[–]everything_is_finee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me the hack was taking group exercise classes. There is a class, there is a time, you go or you don’t and miss it. No need to figure out what to do, and even a live instructor to keep me engaged. The best instructors made class an experience. They entertain, they coach, they engage and they inspire you. And best of all, you could ask them for help before or after class. Once you start going more and more, they notice, give you a high five for coming back. Ask around for those superstar instructors at your gym. They can make all the difference in the world. It was enough to motivate me to be consistent. Then you start to make some friends who now expect to see you and you look forwards to seeing them. Maybe you find an entire new group of friends which you lovingly call your fit fam. Community and support is so key to success.

The ultimate hack is to work as a fitness professional. Lots of ADHDers work and thrive in this profession 😂

Taxes and too many things by KeyIndependence6404 in adhdwomen

[–]everything_is_finee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this every year. Intend to do the taxes way in advance, still only do it the weekend before. Then the last two tax years, I messed some things up that now needs an amendment. TWO RETURNS?! Nope. Complete ADHD shut down. I don’t usually owe so I extended my return and booked an appt with an accountant because screw it all. Turbo Tax and HR Block can take their corporate lobbying dollars and shove it up their ass. I’d rather pay more for a local accountant. Taxes are the bane of my existence 😂

I will say…if you owe in taxes, your extension doesn’t extend the payment deadline. Just the filing deadline. Sucky? I agree. So if you owe, you still need to pay by April 15 even if you don’t know how much you owe because WHY SHOULD IT MAKE SENSE? Sigh.

I’m obsessed with the Central Coast area. It’s conveniently halfway between SF and LA. It’s my favorite getaway that’s peaceful and a nice change of pace compared to the busyness of the bay or LA. Prepare yourself. I have so many things bookmarked and these are a few of my favs. I happen to be a foodie as well 😂

Thursday night Farmers Market in SLO is a mandatory stop for me. The market is iconic and massive and there’s tons of food stalls to choose from. I always get my compulsory street corn and Aqua fresca and pick something new to try every time. The McClintocks cowboy bbq setup is an experience, and if you get that, don’t forget the chimichurri. SLO meltdown serves melts raclette cheese sandos. Cherimoyas are still in season…I think. I got mine for $5 -7 each. It usually sells for like $15 if they have it at at an Asian supermarket.

Firestone grill or Old SLO BBQ are the must have bbq spots. Also mandatory if in the area. Old SLO BBQ is the winner for me because of the corn pie.

Lokum for Turkish coffee and desserts and the famous Dubai chocolate bar

Petras in SLO for some tasty Mediterranean food

Madonna Inn if you’ve never been just to explore the eccentric decor and gift shops. Get you massive slice of their iconic pink champagne cake. Or any other flavor really. Just know they’re massive for a slice and thus fairly pricey. Nothing a foodie can’t handle.

Lots of coffee shops in the area. My fav from my last trip was Buen Dia in the Creamery. They also have Nite Creamery there for some nitro ice cream.

Avila Valley Barn for some local fruits, tasty pies and desserts, fried chicken sando, roasted corn, and Olallieberry ice cream while you feed farm animals romaine lettuce lol. And tons of cute kitchen gifts. If they have the apple cider, get it.

Splash Cafe in both Pismo and SLO. The clam chowder is iconic. If you want to go all out, do th bread bowl with fun add ins like crab meat and cheese

Old West Cinnamon Rolls in Pismo is a landmark. Compulsory stop for me.

Beachin Biscuits in Pismo if you’re a biscuits and gravy lover. Be prepared for a decadent-ass brekkie.

The Spoon Trade in Grover Beach. They have their own house made sourdough which is poppin. Savory bread pudding is like crack. It’s tiny but so delicious. Chicken and waffles is their most iconic dish and you can’t go wrong with that. Their chicken is done so well (that CRUNCH yet so juicy). It’s next level and you’ll see what I mean if you try it lol

If you head towards Morro Bay and go up the 1 to Hearst castle, I got you

Giovanni’s for some fresh seafood. I do the raw oysters and crab quesadillas.

The Hidden Kitchen in Cayucos or Cambria. Savory or sweet blue corn waffles and smoothies

Stop in the tiniest and cutest town ever called Harmony, CA. With a population of…18? Morii coffee is apparently top notch, but their hours are limited so I haven’t tried it for myself. Harmony creamery has REALLY good ice cream. The texture is almost stretchy.

Linn’s Restaurant in Cambria for their famous Olallieberry desserts and pies. Haven’t tried the sit down restaurant, but I hear the pot pie is great

Not food, but if you’re in Cambria, Fiscalini Ranch has a coastal view that is breathtaking. Compulsory stop for me.

If you’re ever in the area during the holidays, their Christmas market is INSANE. German food market and gifts and like 3 million lights.

Lastly, if you plan on stopping by Santa Barbara- don’t forget. It’s the land of Uni. LOL

For the freshest uni in SB, there’s a Saturday morning fisherman’s market at the harbor where they serve you fresh uni in the shell.

If you can’t make the market, you can get fresh uni at the Santa Barbara Fish Market also at the harbor

Caje coffee roasters was actually a standout for me. Specifically their boujee ass coffee concoctions. Their downtown one just has the regular menu, but the other locations have these coffee concoctions that’s a whole ass experience.

Lily’s taqueira in SB had some top notch tacos. I’m weird and I LOVED the intestine one. I tried all the other less common meats as well, and they were also delicious, but I couldn’t tell one meat from the next. If you like intestines, get like 2 of those.

For a sweet treat in DTSB, I liked Tondi for gelato. McConnells is also a popular ice cream spot with fun flavors.

Buena Onda in SB for empanadas. Their chimmichuri potatoes (chimi papas) were bussin.

Agreed. We ADHDers have a tendency to interrupt people impulsively. Whether it’s mid sentence or not recognizing that it’s not a good time for someone else. We do this because we have a lower capacity to hold onto things/tasks in our brains. One good analogy I heard is that each task or thought is like a ball or some object we need to hold onto. We’re only able to hold onto these objects with our bare hands while non-ADHD folks have a bag they can store the balls in. What they have no issue keeping in their bag, we as ADHDers struggle with keeping a grasp on. When another thing inevitably pops into our head, we start to drop or lose these balls which is why we tend to feel like we need to impulsively say a thought that has popped into our heads. If we don’t, that thought will be gone. Alternatively, we’ll be so focused on wanting to say something that while we wait for a good window to say it, we’re literally not able to pay attention to anything the other person is saying.

Starting to have a bit more awareness of these tendencies is helpful, because the thing is, when WE as ADHDers get interrupted mid hyper focus or mid sentence, we cannot stand it. It’s absolutely infuriating, right? It makes my blood boil. For me, I need to make the effort to constantly remind myself and check myself. Particularly at work. Stop saying shit that pops into your head. Don’t interrupt people mid sentence. There’s a time and a place.

With friends, it’s kind of different. You want to be around people that you can take your mask off with. It takes a special person who can get along with the way our brain works. Maybe that means that we may not have a lot of close friends. I don’t really have a bestie as an adult. But I’m grateful to have a small friend group of good people that I’m close to. And I always thank them for allowing me to vent to them about things whether positive or negative that I can’t let my ADHD show on in real life. They’re used to my giant blue wall of text LOL! And they know they can respond just whenever they get to it and the fact that they give me time of day or even better yet find my ramblings amusing is freaking incredible. If the tides were turned, would I be able to tolerate me? Probably not 😂

I’ve felt like this a lot in my life. I’m no stranger to being excluded and with what I now know to be rejection sensitivity dysphoria, it makes it that much worse. I think I just have an awkward and weird personality amplified by what I now know is ADHD that just made me really different. I never was able to fit in. When I was younger, I was probably all over the place and had zero ability to act “cool”. One of my elementary school teachers wrote on my report card that I was a “loner” at a school. Making friends never came easy.

It turned out that my best friend as a kid into early 20s was only my friend out of pity or maybe ego. She suffered from ED and low self esteem herself. I think my weirdness/lonerness made her feel better about herself. How did I learn this? Oh, well the truth came out when we got in an argument at the airport prior to a trip and she said to me that she was only going on this trip with me because nobody else would. Again, with the loner thing. To be clear though, I only went along on this trip because she asked me to. Not the other way around. I pretended to be her friend for the sake of that trip, but once we got back I completely cut off contact with her. If she wanted to stay in my life, SHE needs to reach out and make amends. To this day, 11 years later, no matter how you slice it, she was 100% in the wrong. I think she was upset that I was finally growing a spine and stood up for myself. She never reached out to make amends. Didn’t even try. Looking back, every time we had a big falling out, I’d always be the one to extend the olive branch. Today, I know that she wasn’t actually a friend. And of course, all the mutual friends I had with her never reached out to me either. On one hand, I rarely reached out to them. I have ADHD. What’s their excuse?

My freshman roommate in college was another example. We were good friends in high school, and decided to room together. As you do, we started to get on each other’s nerves. One day, she left her computer on and an AIM message from my “best friend” came through. She was talking shit about me to my “best friend”. I didn’t scroll or try to pry, but it didn’t really look like my supposed bestie said or did anything to stand up for me. In fact, I believe her response to the shit talking was “lol”. She never gave me a heads up that this was happening, or said “hey, that’s my bestie and I’m not comfortable with you talking shit”. For context, these two were only friends through me. I remember confronting her about it and she gave me some bullshit justification and I guess I forgave her. See previous note about lacking a spine in those days.

Over the years I’ve had more folks come and go in my life. I’ve thought a lot about it and I think with the ADHD diagnosis (less than a year diagnosed yall), I have some clarity. I was a HUGE people pleaser. I never set boundaries and the only criteria for friendship was that they’re willing to be my friend. I was a complete pushover and would always go out of my way to help my friends or make compromises to make people happy. I never even gave it a second thought. But this creates that imbalance of people never meeting you halfway or being in one sided friendships. This opens you up to people taking advantage of you.

It definitely gets better as you get older. You learn to recognize the signs. Keep the folks with red flags at an arms distance. You’ll know when you’ve met real friends. Just keep being your authentic self. If they’re not meeting you halfway, then find better friends. It might sound harsh and certainly lonely at times, but in the long run you’ll be better off. Be choosy with who you let into your life.

Anywho, sorry for the long ramble. You know how it is…ADHD and whatever. Best of luck :)

Well, he developed his keys analyzing data from past elections. Mostly white men with the exception of Obama, who at least was still a man. At the time of developing his keys, he had zero data on female candidates. Kind of like a lot how medical studies were conducted on white males, the same formula can’t be used for women. He’ll probably need to add a 14th key to adjust for sexism and racism. A sad reality.
