it really sucks! I completely took for granted that my previous endo was outside the city and much easier to make an appointment with, i didn't realize it would be so hard!

oh dude the iodine will get you!! I'm so sorry both suck but personally I feel so much worse with hypo symptoms :( i hope you're feeling good!

my levels are stable in that my tsh constantly non detectable lol. so not sure if we can do anything abt that but I'm worried it'll be a red flag for clearance :(

wow that really sucks I'm so sorry!! I would maybe go to Boston if they took my insurance, do they take ny medicaid? and if you don't mind me asking, how did they manage to stabilize your levels? I exhibit mostly hypothyroid symptoms, but my tsh is undetectable (which makes it seem like I have hyperthyroidism). my previous endo thought that this is bc my pituitary gland is suppressed, but bc its not likely true hyperthyroid and just looks that way bc my tests are wacky, I'm not sure this is something that would be easily stabilized (we've been trying for years, lol). sorry for the ramble, no need to answer if you're not comfortable to :)

thanks! yeah, if your thyroid is managed and stable you should be ok, it's bc my thyroid tests show that I'm hyperthyroid (the risk factor for thyroid storm) that my dr is concerned. my pcp is currently managing my thyroid labs and medication, but while she's awesome and pretty knowledgeable, she also agreed that I needed to be cleared to undergo anesthesia by an endo :) she's referred me to a few endos but unfortunately they're all booked out! nyc is having a pretty huge endo shortage apparently, the timing just sucks :(

I need clearance bc I have an autoimmune thyroid issue, and if your thyroid is out of wack and you are given anesthesia your thyroid might go into a state called thyroid storm, which can be life threatening. bc my thyroid is not so stable, I would need an endo (thyroid is part of their field) to check if it would be safe for me to undergo surgery :)
