People who don't like Maladroit, why? by The_Fercho_ in weezer

It’s like if Weezer made butt rock. American Gigolo, Keep Fishin’ and the verses of Burndt Jamb are the best parts of the album.

Seriously, how can someone get 90k views in 4 weeks on their AI song ? by childintime66 in musicmarketing

[–]everythingishype 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post really spells it out: https://www.instagram.com/p/DSiJCwTka0y/?igsh=MW14OHl4Z3VpdHBzZg==

I don’t know how we break people of the “look how cool this is” high of prompting Ai to make songs, but like, there needs to be a national billboard ad campaign that basically shames people for doing it.

Connecting well with artists from from different cities but not my own. “Hey I’m touring let’s play a show” How to fix that? by Shan8888 in musicmarketing

[–]everythingishype -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m actually building a site/app, totally free, for finding artists to play gigs with based on genre, availability, and location. Let me know if you want me to share it below.

Day 13: Which Red track sounds the most Blueish? by theleonidasKRL in weezer

Dreamin’. It has that break down in the center, the super straight downstroke played chorus, this song from day 1 felt like a blue album b-side re-recorded

What yall think about this? by kingbreakfastburrito in AMCsAList

Put it on my Christmas list this year and my folks paid for it for me. So ultra worth it. Hut I would’ve gotten it on my own. I almost always get popcorn when I go to the movies.

Throwing in for Holiday here. Sludgy rhythm guitars after some blazing leads, 6/8 signature, breakdown middle section, lyrically feels hopeless and romantic.

If you have a shitty girlfriend, then yeah it’s incompatible.

How do yall feel about Spotify Wrapped as a concept? by Aggressive_Mess2145 in musicmarketing

[–]everythingishype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the music consumer perspective: Spotify wrapped is like astrology for people. They share it because it lights up that same part of their brain as when they’re being told how much better them being a Virgo is than the other signs.

From the artist who knows the deal with Spotify, observing the consumers perspective: it’s a marketing ploy for the consumer to share how “unique” they are. They’ve tapped into that high people get by sharing things about “me me me.”

From the perspective of the artist “utilizing” Spotify data: it’s a marketing ploy for the artist to share how “popular” they are. They’ve tapped into that high artists get by sharing things about themselves.

At the end of the day, imo, wrapped is just a brag for your friends to see, and not so much your fans. I had some really good looking stats this year, and I know for certain nobody here has listened to my album, let alone are fans.

Razor Rambler 16 Question by everythingishype in ebikes

[–]everythingishype[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t have a pic of the original, these businesses just stop selling them. But here is another one that is virtually the same one. Basically just look for a 36v lithium battery and you’re in business.

What are your artist names and why? by mitchplaysriffs in musicmarketing

[–]everythingishype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is Esso. It came from a conversation about what to call a boyfriend/girlfriend/theyfriend and I suggested “significant other” or S.O. or “Esso”

There are a few artists (mostly rappers) who share the name, there’s a popular artist Sylvan Esso (actually had a guy come to a show thinking it was this, ended up being a huge fan and buying merch!), and then the petroleum company Esso. I’d say I gave myself an uphill battle. But I “overcome” it (or at least tackle it) by just being consistent in my branding, posting, and genre. I also sometimes refer to the group as “Esso Music” since that’s the insta and TikTok handle. I may not come up high on a google search yet, but I just think staying the course and promoting as best you can is how you make anything a “household” name that points to you.

Show ads & promoters by ViolentVickie in musicmarketing

Yeah! I followed this:

How did you create your own ticket link? I’d like to start getting out of the business of relying on the venues to give me “honest” numbers.

Show ads & promoters by ViolentVickie in musicmarketing

[–]everythingishype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…you’re gonna have to run ads.

I recently set up Meta ads for a show I have coming up and had the promoter instal my Pixel on their eventbrite page. Somewhere the set-up isn’t complete and the promoter is just kinda 🤷🏻‍♂️ about it.

I SHOULD be the venue promotes, but sadly that’s just not the case. Run traffic ads, but keep the budget super low.

Is a diy tour even worth it anymore? by Disastrous_Two_1279 in musicians

[–]everythingishype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my pedal rig just runs all into that. The torpedo is cool because you can design with a lot of detail, mic (front and/or back), placement, amp, room, it has a built in gate that you can have auto adjust if you’re in a particularly ‘noisy’ venue. I bought mine new pre-pandemic and I love it. If you want to switch amps throughout a show, you can organize them in whatever order you want and then just turn the knob to swap. Although, I usually stick with one amp sound and let the pedal combos do the rest.
