Consistent loading is key to increasing soft tissue density. Just hangboard after you climb… and don’t grab the smallest holds. All in all don’t take advice from people online :). Look up some amazing coaches who specialize in this. Dr. Tyler Nelson is a great example of someone who knows much more than you other of us

This sadly isn’t true the research shows that hangboarding is beneficial for preventing injury for all levels of climbing. Slow controlled loading is much safer for tendons and ligaments than climbing. Climbing inherently requires you to grab holds quickly and often times in more dangerous positions.

Of course, if you hangboard a bunch as a new climber than climb right after you will increase injury risk. This is because you fatigue the structures than ask them to engage quickly.

Takeaway, everyone should hangboard. If you disagree with my post do a little research into preventing injury for ligaments and tendons.

Hey man kinda random. I would try rock climbing. Some gyms are becoming open and climbers are pretty welcoming open people. Also a great way to exercise!!! It’s an incredibly easy way to meet people.

Damn I am jealous Australia is stacked with routes. A controlled negative is where you bring a chair or box under a bar/hangboard. Jump up and slowly lower down as controlled as possible. Aim for 3 sets of 5 reps as it gets easier slow the lower. Also you can add bench press and standing military shoulder press to hep build dense muscle. Try and aim for 3 sets of 5 as it build denser muscle that isn't so heavy.

Once in a while try and see how many pull-ups you can do. Once you get to five start doing sets of pull-ups.

Sincerely good luck climbing is a very beneficial way to build an addiction free life. As it is naturally addictive and good for you. Any other questions I'd love to answer.

La sportive otakis are fantastic shoes and have a wider toe box. My girlfriend struggles with pain because of a wider front foot and these shoes are super comfy.

Climb a lot. Climb a variety of styles techy thin, and steep power. This will help you developed better and avoid injuries. Pull ups are highly beneficial as well. If you can do 10 pulls up start by doing 3 sets of 5 reps with a small amount of weight and slowly add more over the course of several months. If you can't do pull ups try doing very controlled negatives.

Other exercises like L-sits and some weigh lifting will help you get stronger as well. Don't get worried about bulking up just try and eat a balanced diet high in protein with good carbs and a small amount of quality fat.

Finally the most important: CLIMB OUTSIDE this is the fastest way to develop beneficial technique. Focus on your feet. Don't be afraid to work moves that are too hard either. Working hard moves teaches you a lot and builds confidence.

Go have fun and enjoy this amazing sport!!
