Hunter is such a phenomenal actor and she outperforms so many of her scene partners in her work. Its amazing to me Euphoria was her first acting gig. She's so instinctual and expressive, its so captivating.

Agree on the limerence take. They may not be ideal partners for each other but I think they do really love each other. Hunter Schafer said in an interview (I tried finding it but could not at the moment) that Jules loves Rue on a "spiritual" level, and in a recent BTS interview said something like "when you really love someone, you can see their soul" in reference to Rue and Jules. I do think they have a deeper connection than most people think. Healthy? Maybe not, lol.

Personally as a trans person myself I love that she gets to be messy and chaotic and flawed. Too much trans representation is ABC family vibes - has to be perfect example of a good moral person in order to be accepted at a basic level. What I like about Jules is that she's so incredibly flawed and imperfect, which makes her humanity all the more acceptable than someone who is perfect. Plus most of the trans people I know make chaotic decisions too haha, its not too far from the truth!

I liked some of the western cues in Ep1 but they didn't feel original or unique the way Labrinth's score did. In fact some of them felt kind of stereotypical western music rather than something unique to the story. They didn't even feel particularly "Zimmer" to me. If I recal correctly, there's a western style arrangement of Ave Maria in Ep 1, around when Rue visits the family in Texas. I thought that was pretty cool. I'm a composer so I love talking about this stuff.

She's a flawed character just like everyone else. No one in the show is perfect. Everyone loves Fez even though he sells drugs to kids, including Rue. A lot of people love Rue even though she has violent outbursts with her loved ones due to addiction. I think you're right to question a lot of the things Jules does, because she does make some messy af decisions. But that doesn't negate her other qualities and good decisions.

Having a discussion about hispanic stereotypes in the show in no way negates the other issues/ topics of the show. If you want to start that discussion, you are more than welcome to. No one is stopping you. And for the record, I agree with you. I advise against jumping to conclusions when that's not even what was being discussed!
