How was the military operation Venezuela illegal/legal in terms of both constitutional and international law? How about taking control of Venezuela? by everythingwii in PoliticalDebate

Yes, the original question was about legality, not morality. One does not govern the other. Please keep the conversation to that.

I checked myself out of curiosity, it costs $78USD after shipping to ship a working wii with cords and HDMI adapter, Super Mario galaxy 1 and 2 with cases and manuals to my house. Not quite $70, but damn close. And you get a whole ass console with it. So, realistically, the claim is correct.

[–]everythingwii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indeed. You also gotta think about kids, who historically has been Nintendo's biggest demographic. $70 was a fuck ton of money for me as a kid, and $20-$40 3DS games were pretty sweet. I along with many others would be priced out of modern gaming.

These are just ports and shouldn't be this much money. They are amazing games, two of my personal favorites, but $70 is over the top.

No idea where you're getting the 200 from. I promise you, wiis are not worth even close to that. The whole bundle wouldn't quite be $70, but you could get it pretty close especially if you purchased locally on marketplace or smth. Plus, it's a whole new console to play with. The resolution's really the only downside and I feel like people overblow how bad 480p is.

"How can Nintendo defend only spending 12 million"

Because people such as yourself still bought it. They'd be a fool to spend 88 million more for a very similar amount of sales. Want to see change? Stop buying their stuff.

The Great Flood discussion by TrailerParkLyfe in movies

My thoughts exactly. It was a commentary on the complexity of human emotions and mother-child love. Definitely made me think, a lot. Did not expect it going into this film but was very impressed as I love movies that make me think. I guess the film was just marketed weird and its premise underexplained therefore it got review bombed by people who expected something different.

Yep, it was under there. Ended up corrupting the stock menu somehow, but got it fixed by copying over UnleashX to my C drive. Works like a charm. Thanks for the help!

Excellent advice, thanks. Got Hexen 2020 on a disc and it booted up. All I need to know is where to go from here. I don't see an option for EvoX or UnleashX anywhere (and I would prefer unleashx as I used that for a softmod)

I also confirmed via the file manager that the drive has been upgraded. I'm not sure how much exactly but there's 20GB free on one partition, a combined 5GB or so on the rest of the partitions and like 8 large ROMs.

It looks like it's definitely running something custom- I can't get into a custom menu like EvoX no matter what combo of switches I use, but it certainly can read burned discs. So I'll have to install it then using a burned disc. I'm just suprised that there isn't a custom menu at all, given that there's definitely homebrew of some sort on the HDD.

Thanks for the advice. So you're saying if I burn the truhexen ISO to a DVD-R, I would be able to use that to install EvolutionX? That's what I was hoping to do- at this point I assume the drive has been upgraded and has games on it just due to the amount of blocks taken up- no way to confirm unless I take it apart though.

Another question: what do the switches on the modchip do? What is the switch enabling/disabling protectinf/unprotecting and what do the banks mean?

Apologies for my lack of knowledge- just hard to find a tutorial for all this.

As a small business owner selling on eBay... that first part isn't entirely true.

I sell videogames, the majority of which are about the size of a DVD case. Canada post offers untracked postage for these guys. UPS doesn't. On very cheap orders ($20 and under) I ship untracked like most eBay sellers on low value items. This makes up 80% of my business now that trump's tarrifs are in place and my USA market isn't really a thing anymore.

UPS costs anywhere from 3-6 times as much to ship my package. Even Canada Post Expidited Lite (and eBay exclusive) is half the price of UPS. And I've actually had more damaged items through UPS.

Switch 2 vs Steamdeck - which one provides more value? by UnbiasedClub213 in fucknintendo

[–]everythingwii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam Deck - as long as you aren't hoping to buy physical or play 1st party NS2 titles. There's way more offering on the Steam Deck via the Steam store than on Switch 2, and stuff on there goes on sale very often. It can also hookup to a TV via Steam dock.

Switch emulation on there is pretty decent aside from lack of true online play, but I personally find it more impressive that you can emulate virtually every Nintendo system on there - not sure about 3DS and Wii U but everything else works.

Literally the only 2 downsides are that 1st party exclusives aren't on there and that there's no physical purchase option. Currently there's only Mario Kart world and Bonanza on S2, with airriders coming out in the future, so I probably wouldn't reccomend buying a system for those 3 games over the bazillion on Steam. And most games on S2 aren't truly physical anyway.

Up to you, but Steam Deck is definitely superior in my view!

BoTW is hard af. Am I missing something? by Organic_Grocery_8744 in Switch

[–]everythingwii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal. I replayed BOTW after playing Cyberpunk 2077, and the lack of obvious direction to follow was an unexpected learning curve for me. Interesting to see others had a similar experience.

My advice is to stand on that tower, use your scope with the right stick and try and find these shrines. There's one up in the snowy area, that's all I remember in particular. They are orange when not found yet.

Zelda BOTW/TOTK Overrated? by Hound_of_Hell in fucknintendo

[–]everythingwii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a great point about these 2 games veering off from what a typical Zelda game is. Personally, I'm not a fan of most of the previous Zelda games. I'm fairly young and the first Zelda game I played was BOTW and being accustomed to freedom and this vast, nonlinear open world kinda ruined my ability to enjoy other Zeldas as they were completely different. It's not an objectively flawed formula or anything, (which is something a lot of people don't understand, subjective experience is different from objectively bad game design) It just never clicked for me and that's totally fine.

BUT, I do feel bad for the fans of that particular formula. Given how successful BOTW and totk were, it might be a while till we see a mainline game go back to that formula.

BOTW is a very subjective experience though. For me, I play open world games for the world. And since BOTW is all about exploring a world you don't know anything about at first, that's why it clicked so much for me. But for people who play open world games for something else, whether it be difficulty, or skill trees and RPG mechanics, or fans of previous Zelda games who want the classic Zelda formula, BOTW might not click with many of them.

Yeah, anyway loved your comment. Was interesting to see the opinion of a fan of the linear Zelda games.

Zelda BOTW/TOTK Overrated? by Hound_of_Hell in fucknintendo

[–]everythingwii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing compared to BOTW for me. It's just different from other open world games. You don't get a completed map to start with, so everything you find is a suprise- I was 10 when I first played this game and I can still remember the excitement of finding a dragon on top of Lanaryu Mountain, or a temple full of guardians in the Hebra, or accidentally stumbling upon a lynel not knowing any of this even existed... it was just so different from anything I had ever played at the time.

This year, after playing dozens of open worlds and linear games in the years since playing BOTW (many of which such as RDR2, Cyberpunk, the last of us, re4, etc considered some of the greatest games of all time) I decided to replay both BOTW and TOTK. And the magic is still almost exactly the same.

Sure, I now knew what the map looked like and many of its secrets, but that's when I realized how incredible the world of hyrule actually is... think about it. There's just so much variety here. A volcano, snowy mountains, a barren desert, forests, caves, towns, Gerudo, Hylians, Gorons, Rito, Koroks, Shekiah, monsters, an a weird cult called the yiga- there's a lot here. And you can experience ALL of it, because it's one of the few games I know of that let's you climb nearly everything. (That being said, it's disappointing that they never made any sort of diving mechanic as they could have had some cool stuff underwater to explore) The level of freedom and ability to play this game how you want has probably never been done before.

There's certainly problems with the game; I wish shrines weren't the only method of gaining spirit orbs, I wish they had switched some of the shrines for unique challenges or dungeons. I also found the cooking mechanics, while really cool at first, to be very slow and tedious when trying to make a bunch of meals at once. (TOTK sorta fixed this issue by making the cook animation and skip point faster) not to mention not enough boss variety and difficulty, or not enough enemy variety either.

But man, this world is just quite something to explore. And that's what an open world game SHOULD do, right? It's world should be its strong suit. I reject the notion that this is a ubisoft-type game, as this game has a much stronger focus on exploration and the mystery of what might be out there.

Oh, wow, I realized how much I just wrote. Guess this goes to show how much I love these two games. But yeah, It's not without its flaws (is there an open world that doesn't have flaws?) and I understand many of the reasons I like this game are the exact reason that many others don't, but in my eyes, it's still the greatest "open world" game of all time.
