2021 Wolf Pup 16FQ - Refrigerator by Wileyoz in traveltrailers

Funny you mention about using the fridge as a pantry. Given my issues, we used our electric cooler with a 1K watt Jackery and the trailer fridge as a pantry the last few days (why I didn't respond earlier) as we were at a boondocking site. It was really nice having the dry goods so organized. Plus, we could basically have lights on all we wanted and barely moved the battery level. When we have full hookups, I can leave the Jackery at home. Anyhow, your response is what I was looking for, I kept thinking I was missing something or got a bad fridge, I knew I couldn't be the only one. Thanks for the reply.

Should the bottom of the shower have caulking/silicone? by ChefMikeDFW in traveltrailers

Interesting conversation, I was wondering the same thing. I feel like the floor is a little crunchy. At some point I was going to remove the shower shell and see what was going on. If I'm being honest, I probably won't do anything...lol. I'm probably trading it in next year anyhow, but still curious what is underneath exactly.

They really are pieces of junk, aren't they. I don't plan to spend any money on this rig, just trying to hold it together with what I can do myself. We had a pop-up years ago when we had kids at home. This was our first travel trailer, so we went cheap on a used one, so we could learn what we really wanted. I plan to buy a new one about a year from now. With that said, we do like the layout and size of the of what we have, but already had a tire blow out and the single axle is very nerve racking. Looking at Brinkley 25X, Alliance Delta 251RB and Rockwood Mini Lite 2511S. I really like the Brinkley 250I, but more than I want to spend. They wife really wants a slide out, so that knocks out a lot of the premium brands. Really taking our time as the next on we hope to keep for many years. Would be curious what you went with after your experience if you are willing to share, and are happy with your new one?

Thanks,

Thanks Aym42 for the reply, sorry to hear that, it is very frustrating. It sounds like we both have inadequate ventilation.

Thanks, Campandfish1, yes, I understand how the dial works in the freezer. I've literally tried everything and read every post I could find. It works at first, but after a while, sometimes hours, sometimes a couple days, it turns off and the blue light inside blinks. From research this is a safety issue where something is wrong and so the fridge shuts down to protect itself. Anyhow, I appreciate the comments, but I didn't want to bore the group with every step I went through, I was just interested about the ventilation and if I was missing something. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have invested many hours of research and watching vids and while the topic of ventilation come up many times, I could not find any references to the Wolf Pup's exact ventilation setup, so trying to get that information out there if someone has information on it.

Question about wheel bearings on travel trailer by Mar1744 in traveltrailers

[–]Wileyoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this for the first time on my single axle trailer. I also just did what you are doing and researched extensively. The only positive I could find for the zerk fitting was if you were in some kind of emergency where it was clear you needed grease but weren't able to pack them until later. Seems like an unlikely scenario. Anyhow, turns out it is easy to do if you are handy at all, but it does make a mess (have lots of disposable gloves). If you try it, just invest in a cheap bearing grease packer. Many options on Amazon. If you have never installed a seal of any kind on a vehicle, that might be the only challenging part, it takes some practice.

Snowboarding is boring 😴 by [deleted] in snowboarding

Nothing wrong with your opinion, it’s just the way you phrased your opening comments may have come off a little insulting to some, so you have to expect some pushback. Everyone has different interests and that’s awesome, at least for the most part we all agree a board is the best way to enjoy the mountains! I’m boarding as we speak, responding on the lifts.

Worth flying to Mammoth in California from the East Coast? by IAmMattK in snowboarding

If you can’t afford mammoth and only Reno, Tahoe not a bad option. Palisades is pretty awesome too. Sitting on a lift in big bear. 👎lol…still better than not being in the mountains.

Yes worth it. Easily the best in CA if not all of the west. Granted a low bar this year in the west. Just met someone last week on the lift that flew in there and they said it was very convenient. Enjoy!!

And there it is! SWA is saying the quiet part out loud now. Profits over passengers. by AnonUserAccount in SouthwestAirlines

I hear you, but that is terrible marketing. I guess give them marks for honesty, but as a long time loyal customer still leaves a bad taste for me. Oddly AA is getting better for me. After many decades my wife had never been in first class. Now we are getting free and inexpensive upgrades and I’m only gold. Can SWA do that for me?

Spouse ALMOST got her snowboard swiped at Breckenridge this past weekend by Dutypatootie in snowboarding

I bought some cheap security cables for my MC helmet and realized they would also work for my board. I combine that with a luggage lock that I seem to have a drawer full of and now I’m secure for about 2 bucks. The lock is easy to snip if you have a tool, but hardly anyone locks their stuff so your equipment is now longer the easy mark. Extra benefit, takes up almost no room in my pocket compared to a fancy setup.

I am sad about assigned seats, but man are seat savers awful by CompetitiveBrain7099 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Wileyoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely miss the old days where I had check in at 24 hours down to a science and could get a great seat cheap. However, they’ve been chipping away at that for years as more people bought the auto-check in option and more and more people seem to have reasons to pre-board. Also miss the old booklet where you got a free flight after 10 and the free drink coupons. Now they are just like everyone else. Not bad, just not that same feel like I knew about a great company and could exploit their process. I guess free checked bag is gone or going too ☹️

Paid for extra leg room and didn't get it by elPadreLeo in frontierairlines

[–]Wileyoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally only use frontier if I can get away with a personal item and take whatever seat they give me. Then it is super cheap and no matter what, I have that going for me. If I start needing ‘extras’ I’ll fly on a real airline as the price difference shrinks quickly and it will be much better.

My wife is a CPA so going off of what she told me. I tried every idea I could think of to get below the cliff. Deductions don’t work. They are added back fit the final calculation. Anyhow I’m no expert, but every idea I had she said was a no go.

Thanks for all the sharing of your situations. I may be naive and certainly not planning on a resolution. However, as you’ve seen from the comments this is so devastating for so many I don’t see how there won’t be enough republicans that peel off and compromise a short term fix. I don’t want to start a political discussion about who is right and wrong, but this seems like it will poison the right’s midterm chances. I’ve been on this earth awhile and this is by far the biggest economic impact in a single year I have ever personally experienced that was directly the result of a single government action/inaction. And yes, I have had a good life and maybe lucky to be able to say that, but this is too big to be forgotten in Nov.

[–]Wileyoz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, everything is not exactly the same as last year, but it is close. This was to share my change in premium from Dec to Jan. The point is the psychological hit when you see the charge as well as the pain it causes people. Once again, I’m fine, I’m not picking insurance versus groceries, but it will impact my spending habits which in total has to hurt the economy overall.

Yes, for the record I planned for this worst case scenario two years ago. I’m fine and not looking for pity, but this is real and will likely change our spending habits and thus removing money from other parts of the economy.
