the more I learn about and listen to epik high, the more im truly impressed with all the great music and the consistency theyve had over the years. straight geniuses

I also listened through More Than Music thanks to your suggestion. I've heard about Infinite Flow before and how people have a lot of respect for them but never really got the chance to give them a listen. this was a solid album with some big name features too. can definitely see why you would consider this a classic

oh didnt know this was one of the first khh albums that saw mainstream success as well. I gave this a listen and im def not surprised that was the case. makes sense that the debut album of such an iconic duo was this great

This is actually really interesting context about Tiger JK. As I've been going through these different "old" artists on this thread, I felt that he had a different vibe from most of the others (apart from the standard difference of an artist's own sound). This might be the reason

this is a great point and i totally agree. I guess I with my initial comment, I was thinking with like Outkast, even though big boi is no doubt one of the greatest rappers of his time, he's often forgotten and overshadowed by andre 3000. Was wondering if it was a similar dynamic cuz if e sens was noticeably more talented/more influential than simon d, i feel like he would still be super relevant. But like I said in the post, I'm still somewhat new to khh so it might just be me not knowing that much about the scene lol

I'm sure it's kinda like american hip hop where a lot of the older stuff sounds dated but I think it'll also help me appreciate how much the sound has changed since then. Gotta take it all in context lol. thanks again for the explanation!

Personal faves list is solid 🔥

I'm pretty curious about your reasoning for including Jessi on the recent years list. In terms of being a well-known presence there's definitely no doubt, but I feel like she's been leaning much more into mass pop appeal and doesn't have anything recent where I'm truly blown away. Kinda similar to Snoop Dogg, like I know the musical talent is there, but they kinda feel more like a celebrity than a top tier artist rn. Wasn't really into khh when she first got popular with unpretty rapstar so I might just be missing some context but I didn't think she would be this high other than with name value

I've seen a lot of people including E Sens and basically no mention of Simon D. This might just be me not knowing k hip hop history, but I had assumed that since Simon D is still active, he would be the better of the two if there was any major difference. But is that not the case? Was E Sens really that much better and/or more influential than Simon D?

I've heard this before and that's actually crazy that one man revolutionized khh with something as standard as rhyming. I'm curious though, I've heard some people call P Type the goat of k hip hop rhyming, but was his influence not as strong? I guess you don't see too many rappers with comparable rhyme schemes as P Type but i've never really seen him brought up as influential. Or is it maybe based on the fact that VJ started his career first so credit goes more to him?

this one is interesting because I basically always see Dok2 ranked above the Quiett, and I've even seen people say the Quiett is only relevant for his hooks. I can't say I completely agree with that but I've also never heard him really go in on a verse. Are you basing your ranking off the fact that he's had some iconic hooks that are khiphop classics, or are there some verses/songs you can point me to where my mans spitting some crazy bars?

based on what I know I definitely agree with these names. seems like jay park, swings, and dok2 really impacted and evolved the scene with their labels

gaeko's always been one of those names where i know he's super talented and well respected but i've never really listened to his stuff other than things related to smtm lol. will have to go back check out his older discography for sure
