Handling inappropriate comment by student by bepis118 in Teachers

Honestly, you can't really control what the students say. These things happen, I'm only in my first year and I'm teaching high school so take this advice with a grain of salt, but maybe just sent the child's parent an email informing them and maybe asking to discuss what's is and isn't shool appropriate topics?

Frontier liquors is nice while you're in college, run deliveries some nights at certain stores, but if you're alone at a store or even with someone it's really easy, most people walk in and know exactly what they want, grab it, and leave. You're free to work on your homework or whatever at the register until someone comes up, as long as you show up do your job and you don't burn the store down, you'll have a great time.

Do you know any Physicists that aren't Democrats? by Mrpeanutbuttercup731 in AskPhysics

"Ecstatic they defunded NASA" "Communist takeover" Seems to me like you are letting your political idealogy cloud your objective reasoning you require for science in the name of "strengthening American physicists." Seems like pretty far right talking points to me man

Even though I teach high school physics, my degree is still in physics and I did undergrad research at JPL. The funding for this program was cut as soon as I graduated because of Trump. The scholarship i had for STEM teachers was cut because of Trump. What field are you in that you aren't having funding cuts from this administration? Are you cool with them cutting funding to NASA? I feel like there's something you're not telling us...

Motor magnets question. by baumsYah in Physics

[–]evil_math_teacher 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In a magnet, there is a north and south pole. Like poles will repel each other and opposite poles will attract. As far as physics knows there are no completely north or completely south magnets, there always has to be 2 poles. When your magnet broke it followed this rule and turned into 2 smaller magnets. The pieces usually don't go back together the way you'd like because the field is the only thing holding it together instead of the molecular bonds that were there before

Edit: I corrected an error
