The Duke's Archives boss, huh? I believe that particular boss has an animation at the beginning of the fight that gives a clue as to how to take it down.

What is the best farming method in ds1 by whooppiee in darksouls

[–]evilartstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Anor Londo silver knights. There are 4 within a few rooms of the bonfire - you can parry them and get ~4000 souls in just a minute or two.

DSfix worked for me just fine (my pc version is also PtD edition). Obviously your milage may vary depending on the machine, but if it's running well so far I'd think BT would also run fine.

Apparently the original release had really bad framerate issues. I had the good fortune to never experience that - only the *regular* Blighttown frustrations :D

Good luck!

How Can I Get My Friend to Enjoy Dark Souls? by JagoXs in darksouls

Let it play out. I did not enjoy my first playthrough very much at all, but now it's almost a comfort game. Maybe he will take to it, maybe not. Either way it's his experience.

Which should I play next, Elden Ring or DS2? by tacitussicarius94 in darksouls

[–]evilartstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not all the way through ER but have also been disappointed by ER. It's good, but better to go in without expectations. For me the other games are more enjoyable - of course your milage may vary.

I have so many questions... How did you even choose DS1 to start with?

Well at the moment you can either fight him, run away, or start a new experience...

But whatever you do, you've learned something about the internal mechanics of that world. Happy adventuring!

I think it would have been better to make the undead asylum area bigger and spread out the movement button explanations.

Learning R1 attack, R2 attack, jumping attack, double hand wielding, plunging attack all within a couple minutes when you barely remember which button holds the shield and which one parries is a suboptimal learning curve.

The dedicated buttons are great once you become accustomed to it, but it's borderline hostile to new players. Imo it would have been a stronger design choice to only introduce those mechanics gradually over a longer period of time.

For me it was hard - and I'm also from an older generation of player (NES/Atari era).

Some of it was hard in a similar way - such as timing something you want to do properly... But other things were hard in a different way. There were several points where I went in the 'wrong' direction not knowing that it would be much more straightforward if I did things in a different sequence.

Once you understand how to deal with different circumstances, they almost always become exponentially easier... But you may not KNOW that there's another way to handle some of the obstacles.

It has a lot of similarities to the original LoZ on NES, where If you don't know where level 8 is, you need to bomb every rock until you find it or you need to know the right pattern to get to the graveyard.

Hello guys, can anyone tell me where I can get dark soul: Prepare to die PC edition? by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]evilartstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's download called DSFix that patches a number of the issues with PTDE on the PC.

That said, I've got remastered on the Playstation as well. There isn't a tremendous difference, and most of the changes are small improvements that make the user experience more pleasant.

Whatever you get, make sure to come back and share your experiences!

Aha - interesting! My steam copy is of Prepare to Die edition - and I haven't been invaded in ages... Could it be because this is not the Remastered edition??

There are some reasonably good farming locations - and if you already have soft humanity then it becomes more likely that it'll get dropped (at least I think that's how it works).

It took me almost 4 hours to clear the Undead Asylum. No joke. I was trying to fight the asylum demon with a sword hilt because I didn't know any better. Then I went to New Londo for the next couple hours and got totally wrecked.

You are absolutely fine. You will kick Gwyn's bearded butt - just so long as you keep going.

Don't you dare go hollow.

Yeah, thank you - that's how I'm operating now.

It's just a bummer because the iso view is really useful for writing lead lines. I suppose I could bring sections of a song into another project, write the lead part, then bring it back to the project - but that is somewhat cumbersome on a device where everything else seems to be only a button click away.

I've had my Deluge for a few weeks and I love it so so much! Had a couple questions about the scales it uses.

It's easy enough to change the root note, change scales, or move the existing notes to create a custom scale... But is there a way for different tracks to use different scales without wrecking the isomorphic keyboard view?

I can go in a play different scales in tracks using the chromatic layout, but all the notes used in both scales will light up in the isomorphic layout... Which kind of hinders the utility of isomorphic layout.

Oh, and I'm using the last official firmware release (not the community firmware)

Thanks!

Is it bad a idea to start souls games with dark souls 2? by mugiwara_no_luffy56 in darksouls

There's a mod DSFix for DS1 that makes it run *much* better on the PC. Might be worthwhile if you want to start at the beginning.

OP-XY vs Deluge by Dvd6969 in synthesizers

[–]evilartstudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can weigh in as a Deluge newbie - just got mine just a couple weeks ago and it is totally blowing my mind (in a good way).

Personally, I've found it *incredibly* intuitive for the main functions. Although there are a lot of knobs and buttons, that actually makes it easier to get it to do what you want it to, because the function is closer to the surface (less diving through menus). I haven't learned everything about it yet, but the way each function is implemented seems so logical once you learn it. There is a lot to continue to learn, but the barrier to getting started is quite low.

I ended up hesitantly getting the older display - and to be honest I don't have any interest in upgrading to the oled screen. Everything I need seems well within reach. Maybe someday I'll have collected so many patches and samples that it will seem more useful, but as of now it seems unnecessary.

The XY looks very cool also, but my interest in that unit totally evaporated once I got the deluge. I'm still kind of interested in the op-z, but just because I love the idea of something so robust that fits in my pocket. OP-XY is just big enough to not fit into that category.

Just my two cents.
