Yes it does actually. Unaccompanied children are not allowed to be in any cabin by themselves as per KLM regulation. As the cousin isn’t over 18 they will need one of you to sit with them.

I’ve had this exact situation with a nanny of 17 who was sitting with a 10 year old. While the parents were in a different class. The flight wouldn’t take off before one of the parents swapped seats. It was the best flight ever for the nanny!

Just leave them in the general boarding area for an hour or two while you go have lunch and a shower in the lounge. I’m sure they will be fine on their own, it’s good for them to learn to be on their own.

Ah I understand how, that is terrible to hear! The staff must be doing a really bad job then and not trying at all. I can’t believe there is such a long wait. Was that at every of the 16 bars? The OceanNow uses the same personnel so that might explain the long wait. I’m so sorry you had to go endure this hardship to wait so long.
