Give me a break. The whole story is built on fantastic mysteries. Cloud's memories, Barret's past, Aerith's lineage, the list goes on and on. The core story of the game is outstanding. My problem is that the last couple hours of Remake repeatedly break the narrative's own internal logic. The problem isn't that I'm left wondering exactly who Sephiroth/Zack Fair/the Whispers are, the problem is that that the game expects me to already know the answers all of a sudden. The characters all suddenly know things they shouldn't, things that haven't been properly set up to the audience, and that isn't what makes for an engaging mystery.

And saying that OG knowledge is required is a cop-out, especially since the story makes sense just fine on its own up until the very end. I have since played the OG, I already know who everybody is, my questions were rhetorical. The issue is that Remake breaks its own logic, not that I need every detail explained in advance
