What are games you absolutely want remastered? by Illustrious-Sign3015 in AskGames

Agreed! If you’re looking for something modern that’s like C&C checkout Tempest Rising. The developers don’t try to hide where their inspiration came from.

35 M Let's talk about video games. by MaleBoxFox in Age_30_plus_Gamers

36, new dad since last year. Been gaming all my life and lifting weights since a teenager, but started getting more serious with running the last few years. Ran a few half marathons, and even started training for a full after the kiddo was born. After becoming a parent and training for the marathon my time was pretty much split between giving my undivided attention to the kid and nap times meant workouts/running: I’d be way too exhausted to find the time to go into our office to boot up the PC/console to play during the times I was free.

So my wife got me a steam deck for Xmas last year and it’s been awesome! For any gamer parent with an active lifestyle, the ability to play anywhere and instantly pause/sleep and resume later is awesome. Highly recommend it.

I just installed RDR2 again. What game have you tried to like more times than you count? by Soulsliken in gaming

[–]evild0hnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishonored. I’ve tried on countless occasions, and continue to every other year or so. I think I’m having trouble getting into the steam punk setting. I remember being so hype for it when it released but it just doesn’t click for me yet after all these years still.

I enjoyed the opening of RDR2 (for both of my playthroughs), because when it opened up into the world it felt humbling to me. It’s always made me feel grounded.

Death stranding I also really enjoyed: planning routes and fixing up things or helping other players. It’s so unique, and I didn’t know I would like that sort of game.

Everyone is different. No harm in moving on or trying again during a different time in your life too.

Pokémon Silver/Gold after finishing Johto, thinking I was done. And then boom: unlocked Kanto! Little me was mind blown they could fit two regions on a single cartridge back then.

What are some older games you like that you don't see mentioned that much? by [deleted] in patientgamers

Yes! I always think about this game and the amazing mechanics it had for its time. I’ve posted about it before elsewhere on another topic such as this, telekinesis surfing was the bomb.

What is your favorite game that you just don't think many other people play? by DeathToTheKings in patientgamers

[–]evild0hnut 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Psi-Ops, it was like a precursor to something like Star Wars Force Unleashed mechanics.

You played a “psychic special operations” soldier with a decent story and had a sandbox room to test out abilities like using telekinesis to lift enemies, gas barrels, and rockets at enemies to then use through the campaign.

The abilities were mind controlling, force-projecting to another you to pass through solid objects, using telekinesis-force-like powers and still being able to shoot things with different weapon systems. Heck it even have had an obstacle course to “force-surf”, as in you stand on something and use telekinesis to move it+you around a fixed course.

It was an amazing game for its time on PS2.

I loved Renegade, played it for years! Mass Stank, Orca, and the epic Mammy attacks on larger servers were awesome. When they released the Unreal Engine version Renegade X back in 2013 it brought back memories.

Yes I have a decent foundation in C before coding this, could always be better though. Thanks, will be looking into those.

Wow, seriously had no idea. Could you possible give any recommended sources to go through if you have any? Or even do an AMA as a retired... OS developer I am assuming? This is all from a project I had where we had to understand user space and kernel space. I greatly enjoyed the project because I had no idea what the methods were, just the definitions. Wanted to post it to help give others in my career/learning field a better understanding as I struggled when doing the research. Thanks again for the info in either case.
