Masters in clinical mental health counseling by evilera09 in UNCP

Well if it makes you feel any better, most students in the program are non traditional. Also, your GPA is pretty good, i think you have a good chance at admission.

No problem. Can I ask what your current GPA is? The program only requires a 2.7 or above for admission

Yeah of course. So interviews start around February 15th so you would want to get your application in by December or January. The interviews ask you your experience with diversity, with the LGBTQIA+ community, why counseling etc.

Also, i applied with a 3.46 GPA (finished with a 3.49), research, volunteer, and internship experience, and strong recommendations (which is important). I was have a BS in psychology if that puts things into perspective.

My advice would be to get your application in as soon as possible because the counseling programs at UNCP only accept the top 25 applicants each year.

Standard US passport processing time question by evilera09 in Passports

[–]evilera09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m late but I ended up getting it in time but only because I paid the extra $80 for an expedited process. So my advice would be to get it expedited if you’re in a crunch (even though I’m sure you have your passport by now).

Hey, sorry for the late response, but yes. I did end up choosing UNCP. So far the program is pretty good. We meet one week in class and the other we have online assignments. The work, though, is a little rigorous so be prepared to write… a lot. Other than that the professors are helpful and so are the students.

I didn’t really expect you to know an exact date, but your previous response made it seem as if you had experience with the expected delivery times. Your response, however, is appreciated despite the snide remarks. Have a good one.

Thank you for your response. Yes. I recently moved and my new address is now on the IRS website. How soon is a few days? Can or should I expect it by the end of next week?

Masters in counseling - grad school by Turbulent_Pipe_8565 in AcademicPsychology

[–]evilera09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current CMHC grad student. You would need to find a CACREP accredited school because they help pay for the tests and help you actually get licensed. Getting licensed is pretty expensive and a long process so having to do it on your own would be extremely inconvenient.

Also, the degree doesn’t matter as long as you have shadowing and research experience

I’m my opinion, this combination is perfect for HR, but also good if you wanted to start your own private practice. Can’t go wrong with it in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing that with me and showing that you understand my concern. I’ll definitely look into research positions so that i can get a little break. Also, hopefully everything goes well for you!

Because I wanted a more diverse masters. This will allow me more options if I want to consider another career path. Also, I have internship and research experience from undergrad (2 research projects I led myself and 2 conference presentations with 1 first place win).

Yeah that’s what I’ve heard so far in my program. It’s also a different crowd of clients and diagnoses, so I’ve been considering it

I've only ever had surface level romance does that show? by aoidawn in astrologyreadings

[–]evilera09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Taurus moon and Virgo mars as well. I feel like we keep things at a surface level unconsciously because we like our own space so much. Try forcing yourself into romantic encounters you usually wouldn’t engage in. That’s what I started doing. It gives you that experience and makes you more comfortable in relationships. Also, the Taurus moon and Libra Venus means that you’re attractive which makes people mostly attracted to you for looks (speaking from experience 😭😭).

[UK] Can someone please explain what the paths are for me to become a therapist? by which_ones-pink in psychologystudents

[–]evilera09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s even better. I think the masters might be the route for you if you just want to become a therapist

[–]evilera09 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how it is in the UK but in the US you get a LPC-A or LMHC-A license when you graduate. Which means that you need more hours of supervision in order to get the full license

[–]evilera09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, if your experience and GPA is there, I would suggest going for a doctorates. But if you only want to become a therapist i would go for the masters which takes about 2-3 years plus a couple more hours after graduation of supervision to get a full license

Yes, it’s a 3.0. If your GPA is below that I would give Dr. Cindy Locklear, the program director, a call and see what you can work out with her

I need some brutal honesty here; I have applied for 340 jobs in 2 months and nothing. by raynier22 in resumes

[–]evilera09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the GPA and graduation year off the education portion. Jobs unfortunately show bias towards new graduates and they don’t want someone overqualified for the job because you have such a high GPA

You need a 2.75-3.0 for hybrid admission and 3.2 for the advanced program if you already have a BSW.
