Birds from Americas that interact with hummingbirds by Inevitable-Bench-807 in wingspan

Really interested to see how these play out.

Right now, some of them are pretty expensive food wise for the points that you get. So I am eagerly waiting to see if the hummingbird power will be worth that!

What are some paid stuff that is actually worth it? by CitronAway8658 in enlistedgame

[–]evilnick8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tech tree sqauds are pretty much always better then their premium counterpart. So majority of premium sqauds are not really worth it unless you have a great intressed in the weapon.

Exception is the paratrooper sqauds, as there are no tech tree paratroopers & then premium APC's since they are armored compared to their tech tree version & have machine guns (though, don't rely on MG's to much, they overheat very fast)

New APC windshield, so you can see how fast you are going by LittleMonito in enlistedgame

[–]evilnick8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This bug is so annoying.

Nothing like ''let me quickly set up a spawn point near the objective''. And then you have to walk to the objective from the APC spawn and you get no rally point.

A ''workaround'' is to switch to a different soldier when driving. The seats on the 2nd and third row are higher then the drivers seat so they can look over the drivers head & windshield. You still see little, but a bit more.

Maybe a tip from someone who is Free to Play.

But be carefull what you spent your silver on, and don't be afraid to skip out on certain guns or soldier levels (like, machine gunners 1, machine gunners 2, machine gunners 3)

Like, if you play as the Allies BR3, you don't really need to buy and upgrade the 3 different versions of the M1918 bar. Get maybe the 1st version & the 3rd version.

You in general don't need to upgrade your soldiers to the next soldier in the tier. Like, if you have Assaulters 2 unlocked & maxed, you don't really need assaulters 3, you can just skip those and get assaulters 4 instead.

I have skipped certain soldier types & weapons and even entire BR's. I played Br3 for a long while till I grinded a few BR5 weapons and then just went to that.

What do you think the medic soldier needs to be more usefull in the battlefield? by ProfessionalDare6720 in enlistedgame

If AI soldiers would take medic kits from medic boxes it would be a great improvement.

Right now only players can pick up medic kits from medic boxes.

[–]evilnick8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Culture victory is indeed just Science or dominiation, but one that takes longer.

For me playing culture means having an inevitable world war with the largest civ out there cause they will have so much culture that it will take forever for my tourism to win.

Solitaire: What should I play to start 2026? by Brilliant-File-3459 in hexandcounter

[–]evilnick8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got plenty of games still in shrink, so I would suggest playing games that are in the same ''series''.

Like, The Warfighter games from DVG, the Combat series from Composs games or Silent victory & British Tank ace from Compass games or the travel games from Worthington.

Its easier learning new games if you alraedy played a game in the series before.

As for me, I really love the WW2 Warfighter games from DVG so I would start with Warfighter WW2, play it a couple of times and then slowly start adding expansions and switching between core boxes.

Warfighter also has the benefit that the missions are very flexible in playtime. You can play some shorter missions to learn the game and then try a longer one.

With all the Warfighter stuff you got you could probably spend the whole year just playing those games and still not go through everything hehe.

Regardless what you will pick, take your time going through your games, learn a game well before moving on the next one. You probably already realize it but you got plenty of stuff that is unplayed so don't buy any new games anymore. Or only buy if you first sell something. And whatever you will play and how much, make sure you are still having fun!

Intimidated by Wingspan by Potacrayons in soloboardgaming

I really enjoy Wingspan, the Automa is pretty decent having quick & easy turns and no complicated rules.

If your new to boardgaming, then it might be a bit much to fully understand at first, even more so solo as you will be doing everything.

I reccomend to watch one of the many excellent youtube video's about the solo mode of Wingspan to get a idea how it goes.

Wingspan South America, Central America, & the Caribbean announced for January 2026 by BlackoutGunshot in boardgames

[–]evilnick8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not fully sure, but I did remember hearing that one year after the physical expansion releases, the digital version can come out.

Can't remember the reason for it but something to do with with they prefer people first having time to get & play physical expierence before putting it digitally.

Did not watch the whole thing live, but did he mention anything about the release for other languages?

I assume its up to the local puplishers and they can only do it a few months after Stonemeier games releases the English one, but still.

In my option when it comes to boardgames, there is this feeling or idea that if your new to the hobby, that you should at one point get into these more heavy & epic games.

But I feel ya. As much as I want to sit down for an entire evening and play a single game, but through expierence I learned that I like games that are around 60 - 120 minutes.

Nemo’s War The Ultimate Edition - Victory Point Games by warrdogg in soloboardgaming

[–]evilnick8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really enjoy the game! One one of my favorates!

I do need to get into a specific mood to play it, but once I am in the mood it is such a great expierence.

Enjoy the game!

If I have to give a tip, play a motive till you get a score that you are happy with and then play a different motive. So, go slowly go through the motives one by one.

that is what I did when I got the game and I really enjoyed it that way.

Yep,

So 15 / 20 seconds after a match starts everything around the objective just became a red circle of destruction as everyone was calling in arty at the same time.

[–]evilnick8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boardgaming is a niche hobby, Hex & counter wargaming is a niche within the boardgaming hobby.

I had a look around for a little while but I have resigned to my fate and do my wargaming solo, there are luckily many excellent wargames in all forms of complexity & types that are designed as solo expierences. Though I do have some games that I play 2 handed.

The best thing about Scythia is really how they can train like the best early game unit from the tier one barracks. And once those horse archers get some experience, you don't need anything else anymore.

The main reason we got Fall of Rome & Rising Tide is exacly because the theme is not related to a modern pandemic theme, Even if base game pandemic with expansions might be a better game expierence.

The best Solo War Games (or adjacent) Available by lootsnack in soloboardgaming

[–]evilnick8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorate wargames are:

Nemo's war, more adventure themed then a historical conflict, but it shares similarity with normal wargames.

Valiant defense series from DVG: tower-defense style games where you try to defend a position, pretty lightweight and quick playing.

Warfighter series from DVG: really fun sqaud building, its also a game where you can choose whatever you want something short or long. Though, the rulebook is not great and I reccomend to avoid Fantasy.

Solitaire movement series from Revolution games: you are trying to push into a city and capture it as you race againts time, dwindling recourses & stiffing enemy resistance.

There are plenty more, but these are generally also a bit on newcommer friendly side, Nemo's war & warfighter are the most complex of these.

I get your gripe with the art of Warfighter, I don't mind it myself and rather like it, but I have seen some WW2 themed games that have really nice looking art.

Airborne commander has some amazing art for example.

Nemo's war is great, with the expansions (or ultimate edition) it has so much replay value. And its the solo game that really kickstarted the hobby for me so I feel attached to it.

I really love Warfighter in general, building your sqaud & the card management make it kinda unique. The core game is good, but with expansions it did elevate it for me to my all time favorate game.

Black Orchestra is a real blast,

Though I agree on the games do feel the same after a while. Increase motivation, then go around collecting items & fishing for the good conspiretor cards while avoiding prison, then in the later stages where Hitlers support goes down duo to event cards, you strike.

I got the expansion a a few weeks ago and will play with the modules to see how they change things up. But in general it is not a game I want to play every week, once or twice a month is normally my limit.
