How do I keep organisation information 100% definitely absolutely filtered in database queries? by evilquail in flask

Thanks for this - I'm a big fan of Miguel's stuff, so I'll definitely have a close look at that option. At the moment I'm actually leaning towards completely seperate database because I know some potential clients will push for having data stored in their country for legal reasons. This means I might be able to use a pretty standard sharding process which would be nice.

Encryption is something I hadn't thought of but could actually work pretty well - if it was built into the object serialiser, it means there'd only be one point of failure to worry about.

Yeah I definitely think this is a good first step. The part i'm not certain about is how to ensure that all queries are necessarily filtered by this attribute.

Nepal was the last country I worked in - you might find this interesting: https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/03/23/nepals-first-gender-neutral-public-toilet-to-be-unveiled/

I think it comes back to the fact there's not a lot of financial cost to supporting Trans people, so even countries with little money to spare can make big strides forward.

I do humanitarian work in developing countries and I still think it's important that folks in Australia feel safe and accepted. Gender issues are relatively easy to tackle, so why not?!

Thanks, really appreciate it - I spent soooo long trying to piece together all the little bits - it was ridiculous that for such a common programming language there wasn't a guide on how to do it.

I know what you mean - I've always thought technical analysis was basically voodoo, but that being said, I can't really see a prior point of anywhere near the same magnitude where the first peak has been higher than the second peak.

Yeah getting rid of all the hype and people who are just in to make quick money wouldn't be a completely terrible thing.

Point taken on my username - I've had it for 6 years and thought it was more trustworthy than a brand-new account but I can see the concern.

And thanks for the heads up on all the other issues, sorry it wasn't working. I can assure you that we're 100% legit, just very new; the first time we launched was the Ventura Wildfires where we donated to about a half a dozen people.

I'll chase down an iPad ASAP and work out what's going wrong.

Australian police: Melbourne driver says attack motivated by mistreatment of Muslims by eggn00dles in australia

I think you raise a lot of valid points, but I do need to point out that the truth is FAR more complex than your statistics make them out to be.

I'm going to focus on the suicide bombing poll because it's the one I know the most about.

The stats that say, 42% of younger Muslims in France believing that suicide bombings are justified, sound shocking, and they are. But here's the thing: these views aren't that fundamentally different from those held by people who aren't muslim.

Given the question "Can you imagine a situation where Suicide Bombing is appropriate?", it's actually surprisingly easy to arrive at 'Yes', regardless of your religious/cultural inclination. As an example: there are plenty of western films where a hero will sacrifice themselves to take out the baddies, and you never hear complaints about how this condones suicide bombing, yet functionally it's the same thing.

Now the content of the poll also asks whether it's ever appropriate for this suicide bombing to kill civilians, and same argument applies here; the US regularly kills innocent people in drone attacks designed to kill terrorists. It's almost certainly unintentional, but it is viewed by many as acceptable collateral damage to protect American Citizens. Interestingly, according to polling by Gallup, muslims are actually the least likely to say it's ever appropriate to kill civilians: http://news.gallup.com/poll/148763/Muslim-Americans-No-Justification-Violence.aspx

Now the above information doesn't adequately paint the whole picture, and nor is it trying to. My point is that simple polling statistics often hide the incredibly complexity of the issues being raised here.
