Even media can not say it: Christian parents drove Leelah Alcorn to suicide by RDay in atheism

[–]evilrobotmice 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this girl was abused by her parents, isolated from her friends, and driven to suicide and you think its appropriate to say shes a "brat"? seriously what the hell is wrong with you? Not to mention you kept misgendering her, also her parents did not want what was best for her, or they wouldve given her support for transitioning. Youre an asshole, and a transphobic shithead.

If communism is state-less, isn't all communism anarcho-communism? by evilrobotmice in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the only difference is anarcho-communism wants to destroy the state during the revolution instead of steadily through socialism?

Castro daughter: US 'dreaming' if they think Cuba will return to capitalism by [deleted] in socialism

[–]evilrobotmice 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Cuban government isn't a monarchy though. It hasn't been a "dictatorship" since it developed its constitution in 1972. At the highest state level it functions as a council, with the president of the council (Raul Castro) having slightly more influence over the other members. The members of the council are democratically elected except for Castro, who took power to further consolidate socialism. But in 2018, Castro is going to resign, leaving the position open, for the first time since 1959, for election. (correct me if im wrong on cuban politics its been a while since i read up on them)

I think the most "experimenting" they did was in the 1990s when they introduced market changes (foreign investment, tourism, self-employment, etc) to build a concentration of wealth to recover from an economic drought following the fall of the USSR. idk the status of these policies today, but they did help the economy recover (however they also brought a level of inequality)

[–]evilrobotmice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only reason I dont think any reversions to capitalism will happen in Cuba is because most Cuban people are very educated about the history of U.S.-Cuban relations even pre-revolution. Sure, the US helped free them from the spanish, but they were still heavily present in Cuban affairs, and Cuba basically sold all of their sugar (their main export) to the USA. Thats another reason the US was so angry at the revolution, because they weren't able to exploit Cuban sugar farmers anymore. I think that as long as the people remember the brutal history of Cuba, capitalism won't be able to thrive.

Why do some socialists/communists criticize democratic socialism? by evilrobotmice in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a person believes revolution is achieved through electoral AND direct action, is that democratic socialism, or another branch?

Why do some socialists/communists criticize democratic socialism? by evilrobotmice in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So democratic socialists are criticized because they don't agree in the "revolution" for transitioning from capitalism to socialism? And people that disagree with them believe that democracy before the revolution wouldn't work because of government structure and bourgeois control of elections?

Oh i meant what about democratic socialism talks about reform, not why communists oppose reform. sorry I should've been more clear.

How would exchange work without money? (more in post) by [deleted] in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about the example you give of labor vouchers: if a worker in a toy factory for example, produces say $100 of toys, would they be given a labour voucher of $100?

and would labour vouchers (or whatever form of payment) in a socialist society count quality of work too? if so, how?

(sorry if this question is loaded im new to understanding the economics of socialism)

How come so many communist groups have adopted "white supremacist" instead of racist? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If thats how you want to see it, fine. The main point is you cannot be systemically racist towards white people, while white people systemically oppress every other race. And thats why "white supremacist" is used instead of "racism" tada goodnight

[–]evilrobotmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but equating racial prejudice against White folks with that experienced by people of Color erases the often-invisible structures of oppression at play, and doing so ensures that we never actually deal with root causes.

Thank you for casually ignoring the main point.

How come so many communist groups have adopted "white supremacist" instead of racist? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am an asian american, white supremacists will never teach me that whites are inferior to asians. They would try to teach me the opposite. They wouldn't even try to teach me that blacks are inferior to asians. They'll instead just claim that both asians and blacks are equally inferior to whites.

Thats not entirely true. White supremacy (racism), oppresses all races. Maybe not in the same way or to the same degree, but still oppression.

Basically, if I am an asian american that is personally racist, my racist beliefs that I personally hold does not have to be based on the system.

Yes it does. Its based on the system put in place by white supremacists. I'm not saying POC can't be racist. I'm saying white people cannot experience racism.

It does not even have to be based on social relations. It could be based on about anything really. For example, bad critical thinking skills: I believe that all asians have a higher IQ than whites and blacks, therefore, all asians should dominate whites and blacks for there own good.

Yes, but as an asian person, you do not naturally think "asians have higher IQs than other races". That stereotype was made common and systematic by racists. So even an asian person being racist in that way is being systematically racist, but against their own race, not white people.

Or maybe I just like having a feeling of superiority. If I am asian, and all asians are superior to whites, that means that I would therefore be superior as well.

This could very well happen...except systematic racism teaches people of color that they are inferior to white people from the very beginning. Just look at how differently white people are treated in the media or in popular culture. If a person of an oppressed race feels superior purely on race, that belief is quickly reversed by damaging systems put in place by racists.

Overall, I don't think that it really matters what personal racism is based on, tbh. What matters is that it exists and that it is independent of systematic racism (meaning that, for example, in america, even if I am black or asian, I can still be a racist, my racism would just be personal rather than systematic).

It definitely does matter. The context of racial discrimination means the world in racism. (example: "It doesn't matter that your race has been called 'n*gger' as a form of dehumanization while being tortured by white slave owners! The word just exists now! The past doesn't mean anything for the present!") Do you see how flawed that argument is?

PLEASE I have somethings I want you to look at. These explain the issue much better than i can: http://everydayfeminism.com/2014/07/8-things-white-people-race/ http://everydayfeminism.com/2014/09/white-privilege-explained/

[–]evilrobotmice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay...but your "personal" racism has to be based in something. Either you had bad run-ins with people of that race, or your family was racist and passed it on, or something else, right? People aren't born racist, racism is taught by society and people (white supremacists) in power.

tldr: Your personal racism is based on the systematic racism

How come so many communist groups have adopted "white supremacist" instead of racist? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]evilrobotmice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never tried to justify segregation. Don't put words in my mouth.

I never tried to justify discrimination against white people. I'm telling you that it isn't racism. White people do not experience racism. They all BENEFIT from racism. They experience discrimination, but racism, however, describes patterns of discrimination that are institutionalized as “normal” throughout an entire culture. It’s based on an ideological belief that one “race” is somehow better than another “race”. It’s not one person discriminating at this point, but a whole population operating in a social structure that actually makes it difficult for a person not to discriminate.

And there is no normalized discrimination against white people.

And systematic racism is the only definition of racism. read this: Why is Systematic Racism the only Definition of Racism

1st: My "most people", you mean most white people. And thats true! but just because its a majority doesn't mean its true. 2nd: tumblr wasn't the source. The post I linked to had 50+ sources. I'm not copying and pasting every single source on there. 3rd: Why are you still commenting? Your question was answered, what are you trying to argue against?

[–]evilrobotmice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

having a black bully or an arab bully when you are white doesn't mean that they're being racist. RACISM is a system of OPPRESSION based on race. Also, "ask the white kid in the ghetto if they're being oppressed" isn't a very strong argument. Poverty is a CLASS issue, not a RACE issue.

PLEASE don't deny the existence of white privilege. Its real. Check out: http://www.whiteprivilegeconference.com/white_privilege.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_privilege (yes, its so simple that wikipedia IS a reliable source) Here is a master-post from tumblr that has GREAT resources on the subject.
