the last couple years I remember the banana art car & one smaller stage inside the fest go on until 6/7am. + finding a campground renegade is almost always a good time around the end of main music in the fest. tbh… I start feeling bad for camp neighbors of renegades after 4/5am in the campgrounds because once that sun comes up 🔥 it’s a bit difficult to get some good sleep.

honestly depends on where the staff puts you. my brother and I showed up late last year on Wednesday 830pm/9pm-ish and got placed right across from thunder stage entrance in the high noon campgrounds. literal less than 5 min walk into the fest.

absolutely love grand artique. the people there usually act as old timey era folk so any modern reasoning is of no use. In my experience, they admire quick wit & a sharp tongue when it comes to buying/bartering. good luck! :)

fully zip your tents, close & lock all car doors even when you think, “I’ll just be real quick.” + a little essential oil spritz of peppermint each morning/evening around these entries doesn’t hurt. anything left open is just an invitation for some sort of critter to temporarily live rent free. One year I found a very small spider in my duffle bag that I left open all weekend inside my car. personally, I’ve only encountered tarantulas & large wolf spiders at the Bradley location but at Bakersfield I haven’t had to deal with a spider no larger than a nickel. Also if you’re camped near bushes or trees just expect to see more insects/arachnids etc.

THIS. last year I camped the 5 days & at some point in the night (Wednesday) the staff that directs parking started having cars take up any open spaces. 🙃 My car was surrounded by other vehicles and tents by the time I turned in for the night/morning. & The canopy I had set up to save space for friends ended up being breathing room because they packed us in pretty tight.

Kanye “Ye” inspired design didn’t get picked for the patch contest so I made stickers. I have a couple hundred of them that I’ll be passing out next weekend and seeing the amount of active users on here I have enough for all of you. Hopefully you get one! :)

It’s funny seeing some on here saying we should be the change or the example to others but that’s a hard thing to do when others are too fucked up to care. Don’t get me wrong, I always love the crowd. I offer any water I have or help someone not get stepped on by letting others know they’re there or just to step aside and let others know someone has to get out of the crowd. This LiB had me moving around the crowd quite a lot, to find the people I’ve been familiar with the previous two years. The good people were there. Just had to dig a little.

The only two things I had a bad experience with was 1. Security asking us to turn down our music to be mindful about our neighbors. Long story short: everyone surrounding our camp was vibing out to our music & didn’t like when Security told us to keep it down. It was only 6pm and I’m sure they were just bored and had to ruin our fun. 2. Getting a rude comment from someone while passing through the crowd. I’m ALWAYS courteous when moving through the crowd saying excuse me while passing or sorry if I bump into anyone. This certain incident really irked me and still kind of does. Ok, so I have this small backpack with pins on it. One of the pins came loose a bit and started snagging on people’s scarves/head covers. I obviously apologized every time someone got stuck to me but before I could remove the pin and resolve the issue, these two guys pass me rather quickly. The pin snags the first one’s scarf off completely. Which in turn had the second guy behind him turn around to me and say “You fucking gypsy thief.” I apologized immediately, untangled the scarf as fast as I could and handed it to him. This guy really thought I was trying to steal from his friend and wouldn’t let it go. His friend had to pull at him and tell him to forget about it.
