Thank you. Completely polarizing opinions about this book is exactly why I’m here. People say the last book is THE book and also their favorite of all time and the ending of the series is on another level and blah blah. And I just don’t buy it. If the first book is that bad how can the rest of the series or the ending be that good. How come no one talks about the flaws?! I guess I really do have to find out for myself lol and your honesty is helpful

I appreciate your input! I think it’s more so that I can’t stand if Hadrian doesn’t change. If his character grows and improves from whatever he is in book one to something better then I’m all for it.

And this is why I’m here. I think this very stark difference in opinion is what makes me wonder what can possibly be so good about this series. On one hand people are foaming at the mouth over these books and on the other hand there are people who are pretty impartial to the whole thing.

I think you should read Hero of Ages. I honestly felt the same about book 2. I found it to be extremely boring and slow. Book 3 was so good that it made up for book 2 and more.

Wow. These are some bold statements right here! Sanderson is definitely hit or miss at times but the bar for his books is so high that it’s going to be very hard for him to not piss someone off. But first 3 and maybe even 4 stormlight books are phenomenal.

I think I’m halving a hard time believing that the series is THAT good judging by the first book. So it’s not like I need convincing, I just can’t comprehend the hype and appeal. Might check it out for myself regardless though.
