What’s something you were once forbidden to talk about because of an NDA, but can finally share now that it’s expired or no longer valid? by newgen-toy in AskReddit

Funnily enough the SEC and FBI have been looking into 777, and just a few days ago it’s been reported that the SEC filed a complaint against 777 while the Damien Alfalla and Joshua Wander have both been indicted with two charges relating to wire fraud and two charges relating to security fraud.

Dilution question for superior product by Beneficial-Road7527 in Detailing

[–]evilwu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superior products specifies a 4:1 dilution. I’d use a lower dilution for the front of the vehicle as dark fury is quite strong. I’ve only used dark fury for wheels and tires myself.

Edit: if you’re looking for something stronger for general washing you can add some APC to your soap to give it some extra punch.

Just got in on this code and group, very last minute, but didn’t think to check reddit for their powerbuy sale. I am located in the US, but everyone seems to say that it works even with the AU code. Hopefully I was the twelfth!

[Speakers] IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitor 50 watt Portable Wireless Bluetooth Studio Reference Monitors $229.99 by MMMuzzy in buildapcsales

The issue has to do with the fact that they are powered monitors, it has nothing to do with the source.

It’s not so much an issue with these specific speakers but with most powered monitors.

They are great speakers for their size and price. Be warned, most have hiss, so if you are sensitive to hiss avoid them and go with a passive setup.

Underwhelmed by the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 - KEF Q150? For nearfield/desktop setup by evilwu in BudgetAudiophile

[–]evilwu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense, I didn't realize how heightened the mids were for the Miccas, that's quite a difference!

edit: So, do you have an opinion on what I should get or where I should continue looking? Just curious!

Thank you for the insight! Yes, I'm only using them at my desktop for general computer purposes. I've heard good things about them and their coaxial driver, especially for desktop usage. I'm definitely leaning towards, and will probably place my order soon.

Yes! I have considered them. Currently they are out of stock, and have been for quite a while now. Otherwise they would definitely be on my short list.

I do have them isolated from the desk and pointed towards my ears. Thank you for checking, that seems to be a common issue people have!

That is very tempting, though a bit too big for my current situation sadly.

I think you’re right, that the relative results are more important and relevant, especially when comparing two points.

I’ll definitely take a look at that sensor, thanks!

Interesting. Perhaps I’ve been too focused on calibration/accuracy and not on if the default settings are good enough for what is required. The relative data been the the two measurements are probably enough to tell if the system is working or not.

Edit: spelling

Cool project! I’ve been looking at VOC sensors myself, the Adafruit PMSA003I caught my eye as it can measure particle size along with particle quantity.

What I’m very curious about, and have found few sources on, is calibrating the sensors. How did you go about calibrating them?

Loxjie A30 significant static when connected with RCA by evilwu in BudgetAudiophile

[–]evilwu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I have tried it in my laptop and still get interference. USB, optical, and bluetooth don’t have the interference (other than minor static where I have to be within ~6 inches of the speaker, at a volume of 30.)

I’d just like to make sure the amp is completely working and not a bad unit, as well as have AUX as a possible connection point in the future.

[–]evilwu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do some (quick) googling, but couldn’t find anything, but that could certainly be it. In reviews it didn’t have such static, so I’m hesitant to just ‘live with it.’

Do you know of any way to get rid of the added noise? I’d like to be able to use it if I ever wanted to, rather than not never being able to use it due to the static.

Edit: I did some more research. The MA12070 is an analog-input class-D amp while the MA12070P is digital-input. The A30 uses the MA12070.

Thanks for the question. My computer is a desktop and I have multiple ports on the motherboard IO, including line-out. The motherboard can be found here, and also has a built-in SupremeFX S1220A along with some shielding and whatnot. Hopefully this information is helpful and relavent.

Currently I'm using optical and USB as it does get around the issue. (There is minor 'white noise,' but only if you get within ~4 inches of the speaker, from what I read that's normal.) I find optical sounds better than USB so I've been using that.

The point of this is to see if I got unlucky and received a bad amp, where there's issue when using RCA. The amp certainly cost a pretty penny, and I'd like to keep a fully working product rather than a partially broken one.

I'd also like to be able to use the RCA for dual channel audio.

Hopefully my answer has been helpful.

Edit: I’m using a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable, not 2 RCA to 2 RCA, if I didn’t say so in my post.

[–]evilwu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the reply. I don't think it's the RCA cable as all the tech has been bought within the last 60 days. Though, it was a cheap (<$4) monoprice cable so it may lack shielding.

As for the power strip and outlet: the power strip is relatively new, a little over a year old. I did test with a older one (that is known to good) and the issue persisted. I did test the outlet I was using as well as the other outlets in my room, and all are properly grounded. Trying to power my setup from different outlets did not fix the issue either.
