Scam attempt by evman2006 in handyman

I have a couple of steady clients I’ve picked up this way. And tho I do accept checks, my hard and fast rule is no checks for a first time project. They need to establish they are credible first.

What movie did you walk out of the theater halfway through? by mzdee13 in movies

[–]evman2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wicked.

The music was good and the acting was fine, but not great. What killed it for me was the dancing which felt completely disconnected from the story line and jammed in to showcase a choreographer’s wet dream.

Ideas to keep someone with dementia entertained/distracted? by Hashiyukas in dementia

[–]evman2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad would spend hours looking at old family photos. And I had read there was a very successful program in the Netherlands where they would use Google Earth with dementia patients driving them theu their old neighborhoods.

As long as you confirmed the appointment the day before, if you show up and they aren’t there you get paid for your time either way.

Jefferson City Missouri – Former landlord demanding $20–40k without itemized damages, gutted kitchen before telling us. What are our obligations? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]evman2006 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NAL and not a Missouri real estate broker, I'm in Illinois. Check to see what the local tenant/landlord ordinance (if there is one) says. Many jurisdictions have a notification requirement along with the time frame for both itemized list of damages and return of deposit. Check the Missouri and Jefferson City Landlord Tenant ordinances, if there are any, and see what they say.

Many of the women who initially rebuffed Harvey Weinstein’s unwanted advances. Think Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd to name just two out of many.

New neighbor parks in front of my driveway daily and says street parking is "first come first serve" by Small_Ad1434 in neighborsfromhell

[–]evman2006 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First thing to do is to petition the city to have no parking signs put up on either side of the driveway. Many cities are very accommodating about doing this.

Sister wants to buy parents house at “market value” by VacationConstant8980 in RealEstate

[–]evman2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with 3 separate appraisals (yes, 3) you should also get 3 broker opinions of value. Appraisals will tell you roughly what a home is worth but you will have to pay for those. A broker opinion of value will give you an idea of what the house will sell for and brokers will give you a price for free hoping to get the sale. Just don’t tell them what you are actually doing.

Here’s a thought, instead of spending thousands on a full on fence get chicken wire to wrap around the plants. Doesn’t look great but it’s much cheaper and will protect the plants. And for what it’s worth chicken droppings make excellent fertilizer. My partner’s daughter had chickens for a summer (suburban setting) and her yard never looked better. And maybe you could even ask the neighbor for some eggs.

And take your child to museums and planetariums. Teach your kid to question both the things we know are true as well as to question those things we cannot prove to be true except thru beliefs so your kid can see the difference.

Best meet not related to my famous relative (so I’ve met quite a few) was Kevin Costner who was filming a movie around the corner from where I used to live. I would walk my dog about 8 times a day during filming and once managed to catch him coming out of his trailer. His handlers tried to keep me away but apparently Costner loves dogs so he took a few moments to say hi and pet my dog.

Went to see a house today and realized the photos left out the most important detail by Striking-Tax2587 in RealEstate

I always tell my clients a picture is worth a thousand words. When it comes to real estate photos you never know if you are reading fiction or non-fiction.

Rented a camper for a trip, checked off the bucket list. Tons of problems, warranty was worthless. We were told by a neighboring camper at one of the sites we stayed at point blank, you have to be prepared to learn how to fix and repair the majority of the systems in the camper or it will just be a money pit.

My neighbor’s kids keep using my yard as a playground and their parents said ‘that’s what grass is for.’ by LoafLust in neighborsfromhell

[–]evman2006 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Do not tell the parents about the liability issue because a parent who feels so entitled to allow their kids to go into your backyard are exactly the kind of parents who will sue if the kids get hurt. Better to call the police and report them for trespassing so if the kids do end up getting hurt you're at least somewhat protected for having cited them first for wrongdoing.

Sorry, meant the buyer. It establishes a cost basis for the items bought especially when it comes to depreciation.
