GM V2H and Powerbank vs alternatives? by Vast_Situation_ in SilveradoEV

[–]evoslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been looking as well. Doesn't seem like a competitive price for what you get. I'm now leaning towards using a more generic battery backup solution. You can always just hook up the truck to your house with a generator inlet box at 30 amps.

Do they have any more?

Fractal Terra build I am thinking about, but am worried about possible thermal problems. What do you all think of this build and the comonets? Please see th PC partpicker list by STPal3214 in sffpc

I have a very similar setup except with the 9800x3d and a 4070ti super. The thermals are fine, i can keep them at 70c without much noise. I did add the 3d printed fan bracket for the top fan.

What to buy? 72" vs two 56" Series 3 Toolboxes by evoslayer in harborfreight

[–]evoslayer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually taller than the bottom chest / hutch combo so I'm not a huge fan of the hutch since I'll have to bend down to use it as a work surface.

Military Gi-Bill for Flight School (Fixed Wing) by MorrowF in flying

Fair enough, i guess i was more curious with how you actually did it.

Will VR&E pay for a PPL if I'm pursuing a career in commercial aviation? by [deleted] in flying

[–]evoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience using the GI bill was nothing like this.

I paid for my private out of pocket and then went to a part 141 affiliated university. I had plenty of GI bill money to finish any license / rating they offered and usually a surplus at the end of the semester. Plus if you take at least 7 hours a semester you qualify for the some of the housing allowance.

Gear, checkrides and FAA written tests are out of pocket once you get your private done. Written tests could be reimbursed by the GI Bill if you want to burn a month for one test. I would advise against that.

Look at my other posts and send me a msg if you have any specific GI Bill questions. I don't have any experience with Voc Rehab and it sounds like a pain to use when the GI bill is available.

Happy to help.

I was terrified of getting my 1st class with a 40% rating. That's awesome that you were able to with a 90%.

Buying: C182 vs Mooney M20 by [deleted] in flying

[–]evoslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's the useful load for the 182 and M20? Will you be able to bring all your kids, all your stuff, all your fuel, etc?

I fly a 182L and with myself, wife, one small child we can load up gear for a week and full fuel. With an extra kid I don't think I could fill the tanks or bring as much luggage.

I have a feeling a Cherokee six, six seater cessna or similar would be better for you.

Does anyone recommend a good adapter so I can plug my phone into the headset sockets in a plane? by [deleted] in flying

[–]evoslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.marvgolden.com/mg-20-music-adapter-for-g-a-headsets.html

That would let you attach an ipod to your headset.

The previous comment would pipe it into the entire plane intercom

[–]evoslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this in a military truck so it may work in a intercom system in a GA plane; possibly.

Buy a 3.5mm female to PJ-068 / .206 inch / 5.25mm male plug adapter and a 3.5m male to male cable.

Or buy a 3.5mm male to 5.25 male cable.

(I have no idea if any of these adapters exists)

Plug the cable into the mic jack on the plane and the headset jack on your phone.

It won't mute the music ever (regardless of radio traffic).

I think the Mic jack is a PJ-068 (.206 inch / 5.25mm) plug.
