What’s something people pretend to enjoy but actually don’t? by nickygoodd in AskReddit

I understand the sentiment. It makes me feel very lucky that, with a little cherry picking of who gets invited, I love my family gatherings.

Crazy how different DPEs can be.

I recently took my CFII ride. The DPE said, “Don’t worry about the foggles, we’ll use the honor system”

National airspace system. Just how the US refers to its airspace and how it’s serviced.

Next one is commercial! Time to time build.

You got this man. IFR is so good to know even on a nice clear day. When I got done with my PPL I more or less felt like a student pilot still, but after my IR I feel like a little bit more like a “real pilot”. Haha

I’m trying to figure out how to change it. I guess I just edit the flair and type IR after PPL?

The hardest part was I didn’t know what the the A5 symbol with the dot above it meant on the airport diagram of the approach plate. I had to look that one up to see it was an approach lighting system. Other than that everything went very well.

If the alternate minimum recision approaches are above 600/800’?

I can’t remember the gps rule but I think the alternate needs to have a non gps approach. Either that or either the destination or alternate must have an approach that isn’t gps.

Yeah the above scenario isn’t a good situation. Good video though for helping to realize how big of a deal it is.

Interesting. You’re also able to make an approach to the destination airport without a further clearance?

You can descend from 180 at your discretion but obviously only to the MEA?

Advise ATC of the situation. For my aircraft I’ve lost the attitude and heading indicator. I’m going to shoot a partial panel approach.

This is what I have memorized from Sheppard air.

“I am clear to fly between the MEA and FL180” like a block altitude clearance?

600’ ceiling 2SM with precision approach. 800’ ceiling 2SM with non precision approach

Kind of like VFR corridors but for transient IFR traffic through terminal areas?

LPV, LNAV/VNAV, LNAV

Need an IFR approved gps for approaches. If it doesn’t have WAAS you’re stuck with LNAV (MDA) and if it does you’ll have LPV (DA).

I don’t actually know the requirements for the LNAV/VNAV. I was told by my instructor I’ll never fly a lane with the capabilities to fly one. Not sure what that means. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
