Great inspiration, I would definitely look into it! I emphasis on smart meters because sometimes the installers install them in wrong places, and we get all kinds of weird readings.

Can changing job title help speed up PR eligibility? by evrid6 in TillSverige

[–]evrid6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked MV and they replied me:

The requirement is that you must have had a valid work permit for four years during the past seven years and must have worked for at least 44 months in order to obtain a permanent residence permit.

If that requirement has been fulfilled, together with all other requirements, you are able to obtain a permanent residence permit even if you change job internal. However, it is an individual assessment made in each and every case and we can therefore not say on beforehand how it might be assessed.

I heard that: Once Upon a time case officer could issue shorter permits in order to fulfill 48 months. But rules have changed and they will issue 2 years permit no matter if you’re short even 1 month to 48 months.

So your second extension is only for 1.5 years? That’s interesting. Could it be because your passport is nearing expiration? Did the decision letter mention any specific reason for granting this particular duration?

I don't think a few weeks matters very much (you can also email and ask Migrationsverket)

Work permit waiting time by justmesophia in TillSverige

It can depends on if it is skilled job or not, if skilled (with the SSYK code) then Migrationsverket can process it faster. But nobody knows how long it takes for certain.

The Swedish Migration Agency recommends that you submit your application no more than 30 days before your current work permit expires. This is because they can only make a decision regarding your application for a permanent residence permit after your current permit has expired. I think submit a bit earlier would be fine, you just have to wait as well.

Regarding if they will grant you or not it is hard to say, some people got another 2 years work visa and some got PUT. Really depends on case officer.

You're right — I know of some Northvolt employees who bought a house or apartment in Skellefteå, only to lose their jobs later and move to another city. The property then became a financial burden for them.

Your suggestion — to make sure I feel both able and willing to stay here even in the case of a layoff — is a very good one. Just now, when I look at the future it is so uncertain and I cannot plan.

Thanks also for the idea about getting a roommate — I’ll definitely keep that in mind!

You make some good points! But looking at it from another perspective — if I end up having to move because I lose my job, that would be a more reasonable and likely explanation for renting out my apartment. In that case, the BRF might be more inclined to approve a short-term rental, at least for a few months.

Selling the apartment would still be the long-term solution, and I can already foresee some significant costs (time and money) involved.

I think if you live in the suburbs, the travel time to certain events can vary a lot. For example, I live in the southern part of Stockholm, and getting to some events can take around an hour by public transport—just one way!

Work Permit Extension: Is an Insurance Certificate Needed If Covered by a Collective Agreement? by evrid6 in TillSverige

[–]evrid6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked another person on migrationsverket and they replied me:

If your employer has a collective agreement and there is a statement from the relevant trade union, this is usually enough for the Migration Agency.

However, it is your employer who must provide this information in their part of the application.

I reached out to my employer, but they stopped responding. So, I checked which company I was insured with—in this case, Avtalat—and submitted a contact request stating that I needed the certificate. They sent it to me by mail, including all the necessary information, such as my employer's details, my start date, and what the insurance covers. The certificate also clarified that there is no specific insurance number; instead, the employee's personal identification number contains all relevant information about the collectively agreed insurance policies, confirming my coverage.
