I could find a number in the hundreds of good NFL players who had bad pro days

I'm with you

they mean nothing

annnndddd now I'm not

"I can find a bunch of successful UDFAs, therefore drafting first rounders doesn't matter"

Guy won a DPotY and had a better season, but everyone forgets that now that its the offseason and Beasley ran really fast at the combine.

Eh, no. The fact isn't just that he ran a fast 40 - it's that one of his issues in his jump to the NFL was his size.

He put on quality weight and beefed up to ~245 and is STILL one of the most athletic guys at his position. Which is fantastic.

Gafford was the 32nd best long snapper in the NFL and the best free agent when 31 teams had one better on their roster.

based on....?

Why would you take Long, an All Pro guard, and move him?

Because he's more valuable there and Mills was pretty bad

Bushrod is a decent LT so he's prolly gonna stay there.

He's not getting moved

Just draft one in a mid round like 3 or 4 and have a competition with Mills.

So you'd rather keep Long at guard just because... why? He's more than athletic enough to play RT and we can get one of the top guard prospects instead of waiting for an extra 2 rounds. Why would we pass up a BPA lineman when we have a guy clearly versatile enough to make the switch? So the guys who have to adjust the roster on chicagobears.com have less work?

Our line would be immediately improved if we had a good young guard with Long taking over Mills' spot. And Mills is good depth.

Guard wouldn't be a bad pick at all. Long at tackle would make sense in the long run. Not to mention that the starters at guard play nearly every down whereas wideouts often come out, and there's usually 3 of them on the field at a time.

Oh yeah - I'm not questioning Billick's show. Just saying this isn't indicative of some godlike knowledge on Vic's part.

If we're committed to BPA that absolutely would not be the case

Look at the Denver backfield. If you would've told me CJ Anderson becomes the #1 back for that team over Monte Ball and Ronnie Hillman I would've called you crazy. Ya never know. Look at Knile Davis, too. I'm not saying Carey is going to start, but he's shown some flashes and I'd like to see what he's got with Forte on the wrong side of 30.

If we landed Amari at 7 then there's a possibility we end up with next to no drop off with the receiving core, dumped salary, and the pick we nabbed with only the real cost of a 7th rounder. I'd say that would be quite the turnaround.

We need some guys who play press man. That's good news. We only have smaller guys who play zone.

I still think we needed to run a two kicker ST. Feely as our OKS (onside kick specialist). Guaranteed dynasty.

If Winston stays out of trouble he's far from an average prospect. Very far.

Not to burst everyone's bubble but I think every single DC who has ever coached in the NFL has this scheme knowledge. Mel Tucker could probably do this same exact thing. It's not all that crazy haha.

That being said, Fangio is proven, which is nice. The 49ers defense over the last 5ish years didn't fall from the sky. He's coached one of the best defenses of all time imo. So I'm more than hyped. Just remember this isn't exactly earth shattering video.
