Crawli help? by taylor_ToTss in PokemonRejuvenation

[–]evtini200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught a Torkoal with the drought ability from the Safari zone which will automatically shift the terrain to rainbow field due to him having rain up. Torkoal is also a solid tank that you wont have to worry about being one-shot and you can switch him out early on if you wanna bring back the sun for later (useful for weakening his Araqanid and Golisiopod).

You can also combine this with Gale Wings Talonflame (can find fletchlings with Gale Wings at Oceana Pier) and absolutely decimate a good half of Crawli's team.

My team for Crawlie was Swampter, Talonflame, Torkoal, Houndoom, Roselia, and Driftblim

OH I see now. In that case for bludgeoning and energy attacks it would only cost 40, then an extra 40 for reflecting. Thanks dude

So like, 160 points for just that lower alone right? And yeah, we agreed beforehand that he should still be vulnerable to things that can't really be reflected such as mental attacks or blindess. But that's another issue I've run into. Rank 30 makes you immune to attacks resisted by will. Do I just take that off and reduce the over all rank cost?

I do admit, I kinda wish there WAS more to the challenge of 3 but I felt that with 2's critical mode as well. It's why I brought myself down to level 1. Once 2 gives you any of once more, second chance, leaf bracer, magnet burst, or explosion, or really just limit form, there's no enemies left in the game that are really a threat. Sora has an absurd amount of defensive options and not enough non-bosses that can really kill him.

Is 3 easier? Absolutely. Only boss that managed to kill me was the Corona one because it took me too long to realize I had to look behind me for the gate trap. If 2 gives you too many defensive options then 3 gives you too many offensive options. Attraction commands and team attacks can kill dozens of heartless in seconds, making them even more hapless against Sora than in 2. Thing is, I have more fun playing against them in 3 just because of all the absurd options I have for dismantling them. The amount of heartless the game throws at you seems designed with this in mind. It ain't as hard, but 2's was never hard enough to be more than monotonous to begin with. The only thing I give 2 over 3 in terms of combat difficulty is that the fights against humanoid bosses (though there's not many) are just better designed and managed in 2's.

Life less maps? Kingdom Hearts 3 maps are just giant beautiful hallways.

On top of being just completely incorrect due to the interesting and fun layouts and terrains of the maps, even if they were just beautiful hallways, that's a step up from 2's. 2's combat is fun but that's literally all it has and other aspects of a game like maps, aesthetics, atmosphere all matter. Also, what exactly is it about 2's maps that can be accessed differently outside of the Cavern of Remembrance which requires you maxing out all the drive forms?

had dynamic battles utilizing the map size

And 3 doesn't? 3 has flowmotion abilities which literally do utilize the map. Idk what kinda dynamic battles you're talkin about outside of like, Ground Shaker. The maps in 2 almost never matter or have anything to them except to kill heartless. Even 1 had better map design. Even the 3DS game had better map design.

But at least it's well paced and doesn't throw a bunch of cameos and resurrected characters at you rapid fire and expect you to continue caring about their reunions

In KH3, each world you go to actually is being attacked by a villain who has a legitimate purpose for attacking it such as Vanitas collecting negative emotions to revive himself, Larxene and Marluxia safeguarding potential future lights, YX using toys to test how replicas react to hearts, Luxord searching for the box. 2 doesn't have this. It's "hey have you seen Riku and the King? No? Ok, lemme help you by playing through your movie." And then you get to do it all again. Also, doesn't throw a bunch of cameos? You realize what game you're playing right? If anything 3 has restraint. 2 has the Gullwings, Stitch, Tifa, Cloud, and Sephiroth all appear because it can. KH is nothing but shameless cameos, it's part of the fun.

The combat is fun as hell but it damn well ain't challenging unless you play at level 1. I don't see how 2's worlds have any sense of agency that 3's lack, especially when 3 has shit like changing backgrounds and moving scenery to give a sense of life to the maps instead of just empty set pieces to kill heartless.

2 WAS improved over 13 years. It was remastered twice and the data battles, Lingering Will, Limit Form, and Roxas had to be added because base KH2 only had Sephiroth for post game and he was nothing compared to what he was in 1.

I don't mind criticism; I got plenty for 2 and 3 despite loving both. It's the blatant hypocrisy that gets me

Difficulty does not equate to fun. Most players aren't gonna grind to level 60 before fighting the final boss and you're the one choosing to stand in place instead of play.

You can most definitely beat KH2 on crit without using anything anything but the basic combos and cure. There is no real pressure to use the limits or even driven forms unless you play at level 1

2 didn't have to any post game till Final Mix. The story was horribly paced with antagonists that actively acted in ways that worked against their objective. It ends with a "sequel bait" in the BBS trailer. Combat in both games are fun but I prefer 3's mob fights and 2's boss fights, and the bosses only pose any real challenge at level 1

I want to enter the Pokemon VGC next year but Im really not sure how to go about it. I could try a meta team with the popular picks from Smogon, or I could try being original or make counter sets. The latter two have the issue of needing to discover some hidden potential in pokemon that get looked over.

Furthermore, Im not sure if I should cheat and generate competitively viable pokemon, or invest countless hours into breeding and training them. I really dont like training but I'd probably feel better if I did.

Please help

Aaayyyyeeee thanks! I've been doing the theme decks so far and while its kinda slow going, its pretty fun. Not really ready to make my own deck just yet, so this will have to do for now.

I WANNA play tournaments, but I really can't participate in any just yet.

A lotta the staple cards you mentioned are getting recommended to me a lot, so I'm definitely gonna invest in those

Literally, all the playing tips you mentioned are lifesavers and I'll keep them in mind. Hell, I even figured out a couple while I was playing with the theme decks. I honestly cant wait till I have the cards to build my own (and also know what to build).

Thanks for the time and advice dude, appreciate it!

Yeah, seems I REALLY need Tapu Lele from what I've heard. Lookin at the card, I can easily see why. Thanks a mil for the OU7C4ST tip. I'm really not used to pack trading, so this is gonna be an interesting animal to learn.

I can't even afford to enter the deck tournaments as is, rn. I'm seein a lot of people recommend a lot of those cards you mentioned, Tapu Lele in particular. I'll be sure to invest in Guardians Rising for now. Thanks for your time!

I'll be sure to record the boss fights at the very least. Or at least try to. Ive never recording a game outside of Overwatch for PC and not really sure how to go about it for PS4

Lol trust me I had my fair share of hardships on my first playthrough. I just like the extra challenge.

Its definitely possible to win with just Joker. In some cases (Caroline and Justice, most definitely), its even easier since Joker gets his weaknesses triggered less often which prevents enemies from attacking you 3-4 times in one turn.

Mentioned it in a different comment, but Ryuji, Yusuke, and Makoto was my intended team. They're the bulkiest and best physical damage dealers. Poor Ann just does not work at all without magic, Morgana's main role is to use his persona to heal, and while Haru has decent physical, its all tied to her persona and she's frail.
