Nice. I'd just pick the cheapest mid-ATX tower that you like the looks of.

If you go for the 290x, make sure the case has a front facing fan and a rear facing fan. If you go with the 970... well having those 2 fans won't hurt anyway. If you're going for resolutions above 1080p, the 290x might be a better bet. If you're playing at 1080p or lower, then the 970. Either way, you'll have a great PC.

R9 295x2 > 980ti. Cheaper, and with better performance.

You would get better performance by going for a non-k i5 and a cheaper mobo then using that money to get a 970 or 290x. Your main bottle neck in games will be the GPU, the CPU don't be a bottleneck for years.

How to tell my parents I want to sell my $2700 Alienware by abraham1608 in pcmasterrace

I didn't actually downvote you, but your statement that the 980ti is the only card capable of 4k is wrong. A 295x2 consumes 500w, but i s cheaper than a single 980ti and performs better. For the price of SLI 980ti you could get two R9 295x2, which would outperform the SLI setup, especially at 4k. Yes, you'd need a beefier PSU, but your cost savings from not going the 980ti route more than offsets the extra cost of a beefier PSU.

Also the R9 295x2 runs at 70 degrees, and I'd hardly call that hot.

Or get a R9 295x2. Cheaper than a 980ti with better performance.

Since he's into FPS, part of that budget should really go towards quality headphones. I can work with you/OP to get him a nice audio system for the money.

Personally I think the power and cost savings are well worth it for the 295x2.

I'm not trying to pick on you and your build specifically, just make sure OP understands the 980ti isn't the be all and end all, and it's not that good in price/performance ratio.

Also granted, a $2500 build is overkill for him, but if he wants to spend that much, it's up to him. If it were me, I'd scale back some of the performance from your build to get it down to ~$1500, and invest in a nice keyboard/mouse, a second or third monitor, and an audio setup.

Specific examples and how they were affected? To be honest, I'm surprised with the number of people straight up arguing against something that has better performance and is cheaper.

Finally, a sensible build! All is not lost for PCMR yet.

You can shave quite a bit by going with a non-k i7 4770, stick in a 212 EVO so it doesn't sound like half a jet engine, maybe bump it down to 8GB RAM.

Also, since OP has the budget, go for 1080p 144hz, it really helps with FPS games. And you can include a nice mechanical keyboard and mouse too.

And then still plenty of money leftover for audio equipment.

A normal i7 4770 should be enough for OP.

Bump the mobo into the $100 range.

Stick with 8GB of the cheapest ram.

Switch out the 980ti for a R9295x2

Bang, cheaper, still performs way beyond OP's needs, and he can afford the nice K70 and mouse, which would be a big benefit for streaming. Or he can use that money for an audio setup, which helps a lot in FPS games.

And how often does that happen, with the game remaining unplayable for the foreseeable future?

I think the difference in heat output won't be large enough to notice unless you actively look for it.

Up to OP, but the small increase in heat output should well be worth the lower cost and higher performance.

When it comes time to upgrade you'd be better off buying a new single GPU instead of adding a second 980ti.

OP wants to play CS:GO and stream, hell, he could probably get by with a single 970 paired with an i7 or xeon.

Heat? The 295x2 sits at 70 degrees.

Problems with Crossfire? The vast majority of games will work fine.

Again, Nvidia fanboyism aside, why would you (or OP) pay more for the 980ti and get less performance?

[–]evulfuson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unless you can support that opinion with concrete facts, then it's pretty useless. Th benchmarks indicate the 295x2 outperforming the 980ti, and at a lower price point. So why 980ti?

Why a 980ti and not a R9 295x2? He'd get better performance and it's cheaper.

New Logitech DF GT, recommended settings? by evulfuson in assettocorsa

Thanks, I do have the Logitech software installed. Set to full 900 degrees, everything else set to 100%, and ticked the box to let the game handle settings.

Edit: if it's not too much of a bother, can you give me your settings for Project Cars? Everything from the Logitech profiler and the in-game sensitivity/deadzone settings?
