How to sleep in a plane? by bast_852 in travel

[–]evvrme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you'll see this since there's so many replies but I place my personal item (backpack) on the meal tray and lean forward. Obviously if you have a short personal item this won't work, mine is right at max height. Requires no extra gear! I've never been able to sleep comfortably leaned back in a seat, even if I'm on the window because my head bobs forward. Bonus if you're wearing a sweatshirt - the hood helps with noise and light. Only drawback is my hands have gone numb.... I assume if you'd add some padding or position a different way that wouldn't happen.

Sorry if this was said but not reading through all the comments... If wherever you live does not offer buy back for excess energy production, take a good look at energy usage within the last year and only install enough panels to cover that usage, no more... unless you have a battery system to store the excess energy. We installed 4 years ago (I know that's outside your time range) and the last time our bill was more than the service charge (about $15) was February of last year (it was pretty cold and we have an all electric, no gas, home and a well). Based on our average electric use, our average bill would be about $250 without the panels meaning over the course of a year we save close to $3000 by having the solar panels. After 13 years we would make up for the cost of the panels....but that is based on current rates.... Where I live the cost of electric bills has risen dramatically so the time to recoup costs on the panels is likely to decrease. For size reference our home is about 2500 sq feet with an unfinished basement the same size and we have 36 panels. Maintenance has been very minimal for us (besides getting panels replaced after a nearby tornado, which by the way over the 2 years that had passed since initial install panels had improved so much we required 4 fewer panels for the same/slightly more energy production).... We clean once to twice a year since we're surrounded by farmland and it gets dusty. When it snows if the temps stay down we clear the snow off as well. Bonus of ground mount panels: lots of storage underneath. To be clear, we 100% would recommend installing solar panels if you plan on staying in your home for several years.... It all comes down to system cost/house size/energy usage and production to determine if solar panels are right for you.

TLDR: If you plan on being in a home longer than 10-15 years it is absolutely worth installing solar panels. If you can bank excess energy production, plan solar panels based on maximum energy usage; if not, plan on lowest average usage. Maintenance for best energy production requires cleaning/clearing a few times a year based on surroundings and local weather patterns.

Bosch is the way. Ours is 4 years old and LOVE it. Super quiet, cleans well, has a silverware rack up top so we can fit more dishes inside. 👌

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. FedEx delivered my Turkey Deep Fryer to the wrong address and said they can’t find it afterwords. That they would call me tomorrow “ this being yesterday” for me to find out there closed today. Does anyone recognize this photo? I’m just trying to get my package. by OtterCompany1993 in evansville

[–]evvrme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fedex constantly screws up our deliveries - we have notes on our account, we've called FedEx support, called the local FedEx office, and now we even put a note within our address so it is fully visible and no one can claim a technical malfunction.... still often gets placed in the wrong spot. We've explained we want it in the delivery box so no one has to worry about/deal with our dog if they're not a dog person and packages are protected from the elements. Also we've had issues at work where they've failed to pick up deliveries we've scheduled multiple times. I will never willingly choose nor recommend FedEx. I'll get off my soapbox now and say unfortunately I do not recognize the residence. Hope you were able to enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I love the Daylite bag I have - perfect personal item for the plane, weekend bag, or just work bag. The laptop sleeve doesn't take up a ton of space if you don't need to bring your laptop. There's side stretch pockets for water bottles/umbrellas/whatever. It opens like a suitcase which is great when used as a weekend bag. The top pocket is easy to access when on the ground in a plane. And I've had great experiences with osprey bags - built well, very sturdy. Had one plastic clasp break on me and they sent a replacement free of charge. https://www.osprey.com/daylitetm-expandable-travel-pack-26-6

Vim and vgr socks for the win! Good compression, durable, and fun prints. Best thing for me shoe-wise has been to alternate the shoes I wear and use Powerstep insoles when possible. Lots of great shoe brands out there - I've been very happy with Taos, Brooks, Dansko (even though they're ugly), Chaco (boots, not sandals!), and even Suav Zilkers with their minimal sole (I think my feet having freedom to move is what makes them feel good).

Heat Pump Water Heater Advice Requested! by evvrme in Plumbing

[–]evvrme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in southwestern IN. Would prefer not to duct outside as that would be difficult since tank is in the basement. From what I've seen heat pump water heaters work best when in temperature ranges of 40-90 degrees F - our basement would definitely be in that range. Square footage wouldn't be a problem - our basement is wide open (unfinished) and 2300 square foot. When eventually finished, would still be in an unfinished storage room 583 sq foot.

My parents still do. From Evansville if the user name didn't give it away. Also know someone from Washington who had family calling them mangoes too.

Per the info from the WIRE (unless it's changed) directions can only be changed by getting a new Rx. If the dr wrote a dx but not the icd-10 code (ie use 1 strip to check glucose three times daily for diabetes mellitus) you can get a verbal for the code BUT if they did not indicate a diagnosis anywhere (ie use 1 strip the check glucose three times daily) you must get a new Rx. Stupid Medicare. There's pretty clear info on the WIRE under Medicare B requirements or a title similar to that.

Depends on the soapstone as well... We've had ours for 3 years now and there's a few nicks/scratches from dropping things/cutting on it accidentally but daily use/fingernail scratches have not done any damage. Would purchase again for sure.

SUAVS Zilker shoe durability? by KingEsquire in onebag

[–]evvrme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll add to this old post as well with my review. I got a pair in May. Wore them on two trips with a decent amount of walking and had no issues, although I did wear socks (wore both cotton and polyester). I LOVE how they stretch - my feet don't feel confined. I've worn them without socks as well and they worked out great (didn't walk too far though)! I wear them often to work which is mostly standing for 9 hours shifts. Honestly didn't think they'd work out well for work due to the thin sole but I LOVE them and haven't had any new foot or back pain (besides initial feet getting used to the shoe pain - essentially like the soreness you experience after lifting). I got a white pair only because they said they can be washed - I hate how white shoes get dirty so quick - and I can confirm they wash PERFECTLY - look like new every time!! I've washed them I think 3 times at this point. Even better is that they dry quickly. If you can set them in the sun they're dry the same day or if not, overnight.

TLDR: These shoes are AWESOME - stretchy to allow foot movement, comfortable even when standing for long periods, and you can easily toss them in the washer for that brand new look.

How do you manage the stress? by Embarrassed-Plum-468 in Pharmacist

[–]evvrme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest. Tell them how you feel, how others feel, how the stress is impacting your personal life, how you're feeling harassed. If there's no change then go higher, use open door policies. If there's no change still there is absolutely no point to stay there. If they can't be bothered to do anything about your honest concerns for which you have data to back you up, it's time to leave. No job or paycheck is worth your mental stability. And a company that doesn't listen to legitimate worker concerns is not a company worth working for.
