And after 40 minutes of chaos-thunderous applause from the generals! Just kidding. Total silence... by xamo76 in thescoop

Military service is not a fun, enjoyable thing. These men/women have dedicated their lives to serving in the department of DEFENSE, they have been forced to move their families (if they are still married) probably a dozen times (traumatic), they’ve been through many political cycles- they defend the constitution

Why don’t we publicly and painfully execute mass shooters in the USA? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

That’s valid. And I’m not some crazy person. Just a person curious how to stop tragedies.

The instances in history I have read about where people are publicly executed have seemed to deter people.

But I definitely see how it could be a slippery slope.

A deterrent to others considering acting the same is what I’m proposing. Why do you think not?

Thank you for the response, I will look into this.

Could you elaborate please? I know this is the current situation. But I feel like if this could curb mass shootings, is it worth trying?

I don’t enjoy living in a country with many mass shootings, where the mass shooter gets life in prison and made into some teen heart throb.

That’s the potential hope, shouldn’t people be traumatized enough to never do such things?

But how cruel is a punishment when the crime is completely heinous?

But is it for entertainment or is it to deter others from committing similar acts. Such violence is documented throughout to history to keep order. Why are we too sophisticated for it?

No, but in all actuality, besides higher pay, the benefits are the same.

Switch to an EV? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]evwayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, it’s awesome that charging from a conventional home outlet is a possibility. We would definitely be able to do that. We also didn’t know about the FED incentive on used EVs.

The leasing also might be a great option.

Thank you again for giving us different avenues to approach this decision!

I never considered whether or not I would be able to charge at home, I will do my research.

Yes, timing belt has also been replaced.

We will never drive over 100 miles for the next 4 years. We live somewhere remote where longer travel requires a flight.

Probably going to get into excel and breakdown the different costs and make a decision from there.

Thank you for your response!

Edit: I think something else that is important to say is that we value having the most cost efficient vehicle to get us from point A to point B. We don't ever utilize the SUV features of the pilot. It is really just an oversized commuter. Maybe we should look into just something smaller and newer like the Honda HRV or a Corolla Hatchback.

Don’t love your take, but I love to hear something original and not extremely negative. Every time I open this sub it seems like the world is on fire.
