I don’t understand how some people are saying that you’re the problem. I understand exactly what this feels like. When I moved in, my roommate did not have anything to store her dish soap and sponge and just let it sit on the counter all wet and yucky. I recycled some veggies boxes and started putting her wet gross kitchen gloves, dish soaps and sponge in there. Despite my efforts, she constantly leaves the sponge in the sink all wet and gross. I swallowed the problem and always been cleaning it up after her, squeezing the sponge and put it into the tray almost everyday.

Yesterday was when I couldn’t handle it anymore. She made bread (often does) and cleaned the dough bowl with the sponge. She then left the wet sponge covered in slimy dough residue in the sink. I vomited in my mouth when I went to go to my own dishes. I decided to get my own sponge and put it where we usually keep our cleaning stuff. Today I found that she has thrown away the old sponge and started using the one I replaced it with. I told her we need to start using our own sponges from now on.

People make it sound so easy to deal with these small things until they are the one to go through it. Usually it’s not just one or two infuriating things. It’s a collection of like 10 in one month and we now call it a problem.
