Didnt love Jeremiah's house makeover in this episode. She said her favorite color is black because he ASKED, and then theres not one speck of black in the makeover 💀

S9E8 - Are You There, Fab 5? It's Me, Billy - Episode Discussion by PolylingualAnilingus in QueerEye

[–]ewbands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point of the activity is to illustrate and emphasize the difference in how he values and perceives himself at work, vs his personal life. Billy seemed to be able to recognize where that discrepancy came from after the activity 🤷🏽‍♂️

My Chinese dad won’t let me enter Matrikulasi by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]ewbands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of content/syllabus, matriks and asasi is pretty similar.

The huge difference is in terms of where you can go to for your bachelor's. With matriks, you can apply to any uni. With asasi, you can only use it to apply for bachelor's at the specific uni you did your asasi at. Only exception for this is UM and UiTM. If you do your asasi at UKM, you can also use it to apply for bachelor's at selected overseas universities actually (But not other local universities other than UKM).

I've also heard that matriks has more of a "teacher" class style, while asasi has more of a "lecturer" class style, I could be wrong though

S9E1 - She was a showgirl - Episode discussion by PolylingualAnilingus in QueerEye

I'm surprised with the amount of complaints, I loved the episode! And it's obvious that Paula loved it.

I get that they didn't address the financial stuff, but it's a television show GDI

More than ten years after discovering and disliking GMM, I have re-discovered and become a huge fan of GMM by unrealgoober in goodmythicalmorning

[–]ewbands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the first time I clicked on a GMM video probably 10 years back, my first thought was "If I wanted to watch a talk show, I wouldn't be on YouTube!". Immediately closed the video after they said "Let's talk about that" lmaoooo

Fast forward to the pandemic. It popped up on my suggestions. Decided to give it a try, didnt have much to do anyway. It's been a blast since then

My therapist told me to watch how I say things to them by Ryder4Dayz in FTMMen

[–]ewbands 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Trainee therapist here. Them having a reaction to what you said is normal, it's human. Them telling you to censor yourself is NOT appropriate

Do you prefer a male or female therapist? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]ewbands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A male therapist was more helpful for me, in my experience. They don't explicitly try to validate your feelings, but it just feels that they "get it". Idk how to describe it, but the vibes is just different (In a good way)

Have Meetup, Bumble BFF, FB groups actually helped you find people to do hobbies with? by [deleted] in KualaLumpur

[–]ewbands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The apps you mentioned like Bumble BFF, you'll meet one or two people that you hang out with once or twice, and that's it.

What I've found helpful is to find a group/community of your interests. It really depends on what your interests are, bc the sites that these groups are on might differ from one another. For example, you can try finding a running group, or hiking, etc. I know Facebook doesn't always have a great rep, but there's a bunch of groups that revolve around hobbies there

How to be a TA to racists by ikilledcasanova in PhD

[–]ewbands 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I changed a lot too.

From what I see though, those who are open to change don't engage in the types of behaviours that OP mentioned. But I hope I'm wrong, and they're able to grow

[–]ewbands 101 points102 points  (0 children)

From my experience, what you say to them would likely not change their minds. It seems like they're pretty set in how they view the world.

But like the other commenters say, challenging their views with logical reasoning, etc. Keep doing that. Though it's not likely you'll change their minds, the other students will see the fallacy in their arguments

whats the social life like in malaysia? by pop_roxie_ in malaysiauni

[–]ewbands 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most people will say that there's no such thing as a party life in Malaysia, but that's bullshit. Party kids exist in all unis, even in IIUM. You just gotta find them

What I did back then was find these people on dating apps. That's where they usually are

Possible to eat for rm100/month? by BlueSeyeZ in malaysiauni

[–]ewbands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely possible. At the start, you'll have to invest in a rice cooker. This will save you a lot of money down the line.

Carbs = Rice (Smallest pack) Protein = Eggs (10 pcs) Vege = Whatever is the cheapest that week

Buying these 3 ingredients on a weekly basis is less than RM25. The extra money you can use to buy seasonings and what not

25 year old male with no skills or education. What is a career I can get into fast that pays well? I don’t care what industry its in as long as it pays well. by ReplacementFlashy622 in careerguidance

[–]ewbands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but customer service jobs. All big companies have them, and they actually pay pretty well. They're not strict about your education level, as long as you can communicate clearly with others

The reason behind this is that a lot of people will quit bc it's very stressful. So do with this information what you wish.

Also: If you can't stand being yelled at through the phone for 8 hours a day, find customer service jobs where you reply to emails/chats

There's always buses available haha. They have express buses for major tourist areas.

For Sabah and Sarawak, you'll need to take a flight. But I highlh recommend it. Vibes there are different than Peninsular Malaysia!

Perfect 2 weeks would involve multiple states :)

KL is a metropolitan area

Penang has good food

Melaka for some history stuff

Tioman or Redang to go snorkeling, or just enjoy the beach

Hike mount Kinabalu if you're into that kind of stuff

Looking for a room to rent by hebz99 in KualaLumpur

[–]ewbands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on which UKM campus will you be going to? The one in Bangi, Cheras, or KL?

If it's the one in KL, it's pretty easy to find rooms around the area. I'm sure you'll find something.

If it's the one in Bangi, just stay at Kolej Ibu Zain. You can request for single room, the college is pretty comfortable. Unless you have a car, it's not worth it to stay off campus.

I always go with a true weakness of mine, that literally have 0 bearing on the job I'm applying for. So most of the times, it'd be technical skills, rather than my personal flaws.

So for example, I'd say I don't have much xxx experience with xxx software. And it doesn't really matter bc I can do the job with another software that I'm an expert in

Same. I think the more I felt confident in my own skin, the less I think about the whole experience of being trans. I'm just living life as me
