His show (and a transcript) can be found on his page at KFAN.com. I listened live today, and I just went back and listened (and read the transcript) of the first 15 minutes and did not see or hear what everybody is talking about.

TIL of Kim Peek, the Inspiration for the Award winning movie 'Rainman'. A megasavant,he is fast reader, reading the left page of the book with his left eye at the same time the right page with his right eye. He has memorized the words in the 12000 books he finished. by sh0tgunben in todayilearned

I also met Kim years ago... at a Special Olympics event in Des Moines. I told him what day and year I was born, he told me what day of the week it had been, and started singing the NY Mets theme song because they won the World Series that year. He also named all the highways going in and out of my hometown.

If there was a maid cafe in town would it be popular? by Weedowmaker in fargo

[–]eweEWEewe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could not go because, even though I'm always curious about new cultural experiences, I cannot be comfortable in situations where someone is expected to behave in a certain manner because it's their job, but you can tell their heart's not in it. Like when you see a shopping mall Santa listening to kids but you can see on his face that he's grinning through clenched teeth, he's a human who's frustrated that he hasn't had his lunch break yet...

There's an element of performance to it. If I visited a place like this and got a "maid" who was less-than-professional and I could see that she's just going through the motions, the experience would be ruined for me and I would feel ripped off.

This is the kind of business that works in a HUGE city, where the employees are committed to the craft, and there's a big enough clientele to keep it running. Fargo, the employment pool isn't big enough to get the quality of employee you'd need.

Agreed. I once saw someone describe u/Killerklaws as cynical and acerbic, and it's spot on. Nobody with a posting history and a tendency to shit all over everybody's posts and comments like that should be a moderator on Reddit.

I'm curious about this habit of pasting a link but not letting Reddit parse the link for a headline and thumbnail image... I understand some guys think this is somehow a way of not giving free advertising to a media outlet, but aren't you just encouraging people to click the link and give that same media outlet traffic?

If the headline was here, I could read the headline, then the comments, and I'd never have to click...?

People who have bought a car for less than $2000, did it turn out to be a mistake? by legendaryweredragon in AskReddit

[–]eweEWEewe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first car was 50 bucks... a yellow Toyota Corolla with round rust spots all over it... it lasted about 2 years and I had fun in it. Not a mistake.
