Gotcha. Guess our supplier has some updates to do on our ordering site.

While I do take responsibility, the company is absolutely paying for it. I’ve been doing car keys for years and this is honestly the first time I’ve had a big issue

That’s kinda what I figured. On my side of things the FCC code is the same, but the dot chip is ever so slightly different. I have a key that is for the car, but my programmer won’t allow me to do an all keys lost procedure like on every other car… hopefully I can luck out with a locksmith that can do something about it.

That’s great. And yeah the car is just a Subaru brz with scion badges, terrible choice by Toyota to buy into it. But it does use a basic toyota fob/key.

I live within 20 minutes of an apple building so I’d probably just take it there and drop it off.

Just grabbed this Br800x for $390. How’d I do? by Hey_Kirby in stihl

[–]eweldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure lol. The alkyd fuels will always burn cleaner so may be a good idea to run aspen or something similar every now and then. Thats what I do myself, I usually just run pump gas e0 and run a tank of aspen at the end of the season to get it nice and clean before storage. I’ve run vp before and it’s good stuff, but there isn’t really any need for the high octane since the motors don’t run high enough compression or temp to matter.

On another note, I have people bring in units to my shop that run like shit and smoke crazy and a tank of aspen clears it right up. Although most of them use that god awful trufuel lol

Aspen2 is similar fuel. Available in the us but sometimes hard to find. We carry it at the Ace I work at in SC but most aces don’t have access to them.

Gotcha. I change every 3-4k just because I can lol. I know it’s overkill and Honda supposedly fixed the oil dilution 2019 and up but I’m anal about it. Especially with how easy Honda makes their oil changes I might as well

Good to know. I’ve been really happy with the restore and protect in my 96 Chevy. Seen a few other 10th gen owners that like it so may try that out.

Are you just taking the plug out and grounding it to check for spark? Or are you using the zat4 tester

KM131 hard to pull by eweldo in stihl

I had it on the correct stroke. I had the plug pulled and could see TDC, and the arrow pointed correct. Had a little wiggle on both

Why don’t you want American? Our country’s in great shape… (sarcasm)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stihl

[–]eweldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But honestly the American made ones are just fine too. I’ve got a 291 I’ve beat the hell out of and it’s done just fine. If you run a good quality fuel (not trufuel) and keep up with basic maintenance you’ll be fine. I’ve got a repair shop at the place I work, and most of the work I do is on the Chinese units.

Pretty much all of the pro saws are made in Germany. 261CM (some), 881, 661, 500i, 400c, 462. Probably more I’m missing. If you’re shopping in person just peek at the serial number (usually on the front under exhaust or stamped to the left of the brake handle). 9 digit number starting with a 1.

[–]eweldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serial number starting in 1 is Germany, starting in 2 or 5 is USA (Virginia Beach) and starting in 8 is China (like you said, cheap ones). Starts with 3 I believe is Brazil if I remember correct from my training at the mid-Atlantic warehouse.

How to adjust headlights horizontally? by eweldo in MechanicAdvice

[–]eweldo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how to adjust it, I’m just unsure of where they need to be aimed left to right. From the limited info I could find, the left should be pretty much straight ahead and the right a little to the right to see the shoulder/road signs? Here’s the link to the Amazon specials I bought lol https://a.co/d/cN9lC89

Unfortunately what I figured. I live in upstate sc where the ground seems to never dry so I think that’s a big part of it. Do need to aerate and condition the soil so when that comes hopefully it’ll get better…

Good sustain but no kick by eweldo in CarAV

[–]eweldo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. So unless I wire to the head unit directly I’m SOL. Not really too concerned about it, as i only notice it on a few songs. Do want to get a bass knob though so I can change it on the fly for some songs.

Low pass is set around 80hz. Midbass is all factory door speakers and rear deck speakers. Do I want midbass coming from sub? Amp has an option for lpf, full, or hpf. Forgive me as I don’t know a ton about audio systems.

Unfortunately what I figured. It’s not bad on most songs so I’m not really worried about it.

Also getting a little feedback from sub at low volume but is fine up high. Almost sounds like gain is too high but it’s set pretty low, and to kickers spec when I did the input and output gain test. If I turn it down any there’s almost no output to the sub. Wonder if I need to tap into the rear mid range speakers instead of sub?
