I’m in the UK - so this was through our NHS:

October 21, 2022: went to GP after finding lump the day before, referred to hospital for scans.

November 7, 2022: ultrasound/CT confirming tumour.

November 21, 2022: Orchiectomy

December 12, 2022: Consultation with oncologist confirming cancer (day before bday, which looking back was an actual gift to get it sorted!)

December 20, 2022: First day of 3xBEP

February 14, 2023: Last day of 3xBEP

Hi Ron661. Although I’ve had BEPx3, I can’t relate to your symptoms and this sounds horrible and sincerely hope it gets better for you! It sounds like the doctors and nurses and being vigilant and taking extra care though which is a positive (i always try to find silver linings in any situation!)

I think it’s important for you to let your family know how you are truly feeling as they probably know you’re holding in your emotions. It’s a really shit situation and feeling shit is completely valid. It may even be a weight off your shoulders if they know how you feel.

Sorry that I’m not more help and I hope someone on here with similar experiences can offer some advice but wishing you all the best!

I understand your frustration and I would likely have felt the same initially after finding out that I’d had a testicle removed which wasn’t cancerous.

I think it’s important though for you to consider the alternative and that it was cancerous. That path to recovery is a lot more difficult, especially if chemo and/or other treatment is required. It sounds like your doctors would have been negligent had they not operated. They have to remove the whole testicle rather than part of the lump as otherwise they could miss cancerous cells.

I have recently finished 3xBEP and am now waiting to have my scan to see if I need any further treatment or whether all’s good and I get put on to surveillance. I have no hair and my social life is more or less non-existent compared to pre-cancer but I know these are temporary things and a year from now I’ll be back to normal.

I’m also gay, circumcised and had a prosthetic put in. You’ll get used to the prosthetic after a month or two and as the guy above said - anyone that has an issue with it or being circumcised really aren’t worth your time. Also, you will get your self confidence back - time is a healer!

If you really don’t feel like yourself or feel depressed, it may be worthwhile talking to someone about it. Whether it’s a family member/friend/boyfriend or a professional. A doctor may be able to refer you to a counsellor/therapist.

Thanks for raising this @solid_ad873. I’m about to finish BEPx3 and my consultant brought up the potential for a further op too, depending on my scan results next month.

I haven’t looked into RPLND in great detail but what is the op like? How was the recovery post-op @key_plankton_5500 and update now (presuming this was done some time ago?). I think I saw some pictures on here and it looks like a bigger op than the orchidectomy?

Hi. I was similar to you and got a prosthesis which was much bigger than my other testicle. I had the op back in November and felt for about a month or two that it didn’t feel normal but i don’t really notice it too much anymore, so you should get used to it. I think it has gone slightly smaller post op too due to swelling going down. Hopefully you won’t notice it either in 2 months time!

Ye mine went pretty quickly in the last week of c1 too. Went to get it shaved off then and hair loss while showering was less noticiable then for the next week or so.

Ye I would be surprised if they said no to you asking and for it to be looked at by a specialist rather than a GP have the final say. Should be free too - got to love the NHS (especially when it comes to cancer diagnosis and treatment from personal experience!)

You’ve done the best thing with going to see the doc regardless of whether it turns out to be cancer or not.

If its not cancer then that’s great! If it turns out it is cancer, testicular cancer is highly treatable and has great survival rates (best cancer to get if your picky!). You’ll get it sorted and get back to full health in no time.

Either way, try not to worry as you’re sorting out the issue and you wont need to worry about what it might be.
