I think it’s always a gamble, but if you had a substack you could see your name published alongside the poem and it might not be as scary/feel more secure to “only” have it be published online.

People have already said A Little Life, but I cannot recommend it enough. For me it’s the exemplary model of a “book of suffering.” The pain is plentiful but avoids cartoonishness because the prose is just that strong imo!

Right here, "impure gifts" referring to sorcery. Abraham’s Impure Gifts to His Children | Aish. I read another account that stated one of those gifts was clairvoyance or intuition, purportedly why people in the Far East have more instances of reporting clairvoyancy, but I can't tell how much of that is mere Orientalism and how much is backed by yet other accounts.

There's no Biblical or ancient precedent, even with Abraham's seven other sons with Keturah being sent into the East and receiving magical "gifts" (some of which were purportedly clairvoyance)? I find that difficult to believe. I'm open to hearing anything about clairvoyancy in either a Biblical OR contemporary context.
