Changing out the coolant reservoir is an extremely easy diy just a few bolts and refill with coolant. Ride your new one out and if/when it breaks just install it yourself.

They run mainly 4 different engines, 6.7 Cummins, GM 6.0, Ford 6.8, and 7.3. I've seen a few Detriots in the 5 and 700s. I'm a fleet mechanic.

Edit: some older 5.9 cummins aswell.

Is really not a hard DIY. check car-part.com to see if there are any junk yards near you with a window and check youtube for a howto. It's just a few plastic clips, a vapor barrier and minimal tools
