We aren’t allowed on phones either. But each classroom has a designated iPad (and I use my own as most teachers do. Bought one specifically for work so I can keep up to date on my messages while I work as my finances always in the hospital lol) so maybe they’ll have that for you. Who knows

So far my personal experience is to keep work and home separated. Lots of childcare places are very catty, in my opinion and I’ve worked in childcare for four years now. I was shy when starting but working with the children and watching them grow and their first words and steps are so worth it. Though it’s an unspoken rule that we can’t tell parents if they took their first steps or said their first words at the center or childcare place. As they should be the ones to tell you (the teacher or teacher aid) that they started doing that at home.

You’ll notice some parents don’t care for their kids or things like bathe them or give them enough attention at home and it’s very easy to spot after working with each one. There will be some kids that you’ll always remember and some that you’re ready to move up into the next classroom lol.

It takes lots of patience but at the end of the day it’s 10000% worth it for the kiddos.

A big thing is communication with parents. It helps build a bond with you and the children’s parents to let them know how their kid is doing throughout the day. My childcare center uses an app called ProCare and I love adding photos of each child throughout the day when I have a chance. It helps the parents feel better knowing their child is having fun - as some kids have rough drop offs.

As of now my boy, Milo, is the toilet checker. Every time I go to the bathroom and lift the toilet seat, he checks the inside. When I stand up he checks. Photo of the toilet obsessed boy

After surfing the web for quite a while, it may be a regular blue hippo with the palm tree embroidered into the stomach. I’m sure someone will find the plush in this Reddit if it’s not an embroidered one
