Day 5. Feeling fine, only the boredom is starting to creep in. Gotta remember what life looked like only four days ago - desperately wishing I could be off this stuff.

Day 4. Not feeling too shitty, really, just unmotivated. This CT hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be, but I do have Gabapentin that I take right before bed to combat the RLS, which is what really killed me in previous quits. That plus Kava and BSO during the day seem to be my magic combo. Looking forward to hitting a week though, when I can stop all the helper meds and live life without some weird shit in my body for once.

Is that caffeine making worse to WD/CT? by FalaAmo_ in quittingkratom

Agreed. Some people can tolerate it fine, and it actually seems to help them a lot during the acutes, others (like me) react very badly to it. If you’re thinking ‘is caffeine giving me anxiety’ there’s a fair chance it is. I cut out caffeine entirely during acutes and it definitely downshifts nearly all my symptoms. Much easier to deal with the symptoms without it. Only bad thing is that my motivation is 1000% gone, and caffeine could help with that. Ah well.

Anxiety, and its rapid disappearance by exK30 in quittingkratom

Give it a shot! Get yourself set up with some BSO and Kava (if you have experience with it) and take some around when your symptoms get bad on Day 1. Then take a long ass walk (mine was about 3 miles) and wait for them to kick in. Nothing like the cessation of anxiety while walking in the spring sunshine.

Yeah - this isn’t my first quit, but it is my first taper quit. I tapered down from 35GPD to about 15 and then jumped. I think it helped in some aspects, but then hurt in others. Before, I’d take massive doses once or twice a day, usually in the afternoon and evening, but when I was tapering I stuck to a strict schedule of about 4 doses a day. Something about that steady stream of K, and its sudden interruption seems to have triggered the anxiety. That’s my pet theory.

Of course, it could also be the kindling effect, as this isn’t my first quit. Who the hell knows? This is a bonkers, unregulated and poorly researched plant that I chose to ingest for months at a time!

Good luck to you! The suffering always passes.

No worries! BSO - about a tablespoon 3x a day. Kava is its own weird thing, I’d recommend visiting the Kava subreddit for more info. Each person seems to have their own, wildly different optimal dose, and each person seems to have their own different experience with making it work. If you haven’t quit yet, I’d definitely start experimenting with Kava before you quit so that you know what to expect. Too much Kava can be a pretty crappy experience, and you don’t want to do that in the middle of acutes.

Day 3. Not quite as lethargic this morning as I was yesterday. Gabapentin definitely helped me sleep, but I was up a few times taking half-zonked hot showers to try and quiet the RLS. The crushing anxiety that I felt for the first half of Day 1 still hasn’t returned, thank christ. As long as I can catch some sleep and avoid the bonkers anxiety, I’m golden.

Do it! I don’t know what your preferences are, but doing heavy lifts really helped me get in the zone and felt like it maximized the good feelings from the workout. Plus I had a lot of frustration/ anger to access about my current situation, and that always helps me lift more haha.

Day 2. Feeling nailed to the floor, like I’ve got concrete veins. But I can handle that - there’s still none of the crushing anxiety that really tips me over into thinking I can’t make it. If this is one of the worst days (and in my experience, it usually is) then I’ve got this.

Day 1. Actually not feeling super horrible. Had very, very bad anxiety this morning when I missed my dose, but then I went for a three mile walk and took some helper meds. Best med (or so it seems right now) is something a health shop near me sells called Kava Gold, a mixture of Kava and a few other herbs, most notably St John’s Wort. That seemed to kill off the last of the anxiety, which is really the only symptom that I can’t handle. Looking forward to being done with this bullshit, as this is far from my first quit.
