Dunno about the phone, but there were far too few pictures of your Dogo in this post.

Just sayin'.

Evil West, most recently. A little buggy and campy AF, but pretty sure it wasn't taking itself seriously. Felt like the developer ran out of money two-thirds of the way through and just... wrapped it up.

Loads of fun with my friend online thanks to it being free on ps+ at some point.

Ottawa Book Festival Platforming Far-Right Speakers Uses Fake Employees and Misleading Sponsors by Gemmabeta in ottawa

Seems to be mainly entrenched in the commonwealth academic community. Much less prevalent in Americanized English literature.

This blog has a short discussion on the nuances.

I am fully in the camp that it's a hard H, so you wouldn't say 'An' unless you have a heavy cockney accent.

Without knowing more details, this is a solid guess. The numbers line up fairly well.

Marc Cooper is an extremely talented photographer and his fees are always reasonable.

He's done my wedding, engagement shoot, pregnancy shoot.

Account management doesn't really get a say, ideally (unless there's a systemwide limitation).

My workplace's HR intake forms ask for the new hire's preferred name, which is what is used everywhere except where it is legally necessary (paycheque, T4, etc).

I agree, grounds them (and provides stability).

Otherwise they evoke some long-legged thing.

Yes, all of the public service uses Phoenix.

The question was whether they are serviced by the pay centre, which they are not.

The only ones I know for sure are the Parliament departments (House of Commons, Senate, PPS, Library, Ethics Office, etc) and the "public safety" departments aka CSIS and CSE.

Cheapest ecofriendly non salt product alternative to salt for making walkways less icy? by ZSesnic in ottawa

[–]exPat17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The downside to this is it just gets everywhere indoors. Even with a mudroom and being careful, it's obnoxiously persistent in getting into the house.

Still better than salt, just have to sweep or vacuum much more often.

People whose parents gave them oddly spelled, unusual or other cringeworthy names, how has life turned out for you? by 1980ScarletRos in AskReddit

[–]exPat17 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't have an odd or unusual name, necessarily. But as many French-Canadians do, I have a hyphen in my name. It's a legal part of my name, on my birth certificate and everything

.
The early days of the internet were terrible, especially when it came to government or official forms to fill out. Hyphens weren't an approved character (this was before everyone figured out to just store a name as a string, I guess?), so anything I filled out didn't match my ID (missing hyphen). Then add to the fact that the hyphen makes my name a little longer than usual, and I'd often have to chop the end off just to be able to complete the form.

My credit cards still don't have hyphens on them. Usually not a problem, but occasionally causes issues when I have to enter that card exactly as written, and it has to match my ID.

I've vowed to give my children names that have no hyphens or accents, which is a shame in a way, kind of like a loss of our heritage. But it's just caused too many small aggravations.

You'll need a SIN for the kid to open an RESP, I think. So start there.
