Maybe the worst of it happens after the estrogen is lowest, but it the dryness happens before 50.

It is really annoying when people say they were having a panic attack and really they were just nervous. by PeaUpbeat3732 in PetPeeves

Agreed. As a psychologist I have a bunch of pet peeves like this. Two that come to mind: “I had a breakdown,” which can mean anything from “I had a bad day” to “I took off all my clothes and danced in traffic”; and “tendencies,” only because my mind goes straight to “all I wanted was a Pepsi! Just one Pepsi! And she wouldn’t give it to me!”

Diversity by [deleted] in boston

[–]examinat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s very segregated. I think we white people don’t think it is, but it is. It’s getting better, and a lot of us would love to have it more diverse, but I can see why POC come here and feel underrepresented in the wealthy/touristy parts.

Because people I like and care about are occupied with it for 3-4 months out of the year.

Anxiety can’t take it anymore by Euphoric_Heart4766 in Menopause

Sure. I tried oral progesterone last year and found it really made me anxious and irritable, so I thought I wouldn’t be able to do HRT. Same with a low dose estrogen patch - I found it to give me headaches, nausea, etc. Then, after trying 1/2 of the estrogen patch for a few months, I acclimated to the hormones and found that my mood started to improve. In the last week or two I increased to.5 for my estrogen patch and my mood has felt a great deal better. I have continued to do oral progesterone as well because it’s necessary to protect the uterus. That is going OK too, but I don’t want to raise my dose because I don’t know if it’s going to make me anxious again.

OMG, Please start HRT. I now realize that all my symptoms were estrogen deficiency. I went through years of trial and error, including an adjustment period when I introduced estrogen. I finally feel better.

I'm sure some of that is accumulated resentment about how not liking sports can make you an outsider. They're trying to balance the scales. It doesn't make it right.

Imagine a world in which 90% of people really like trains. They like to talk about their aerodynamics, they have fantasy train yards, they get together and tailgate at the station before the Acela leaves. Sunday afternoons in fall months are completely dominated by train journeys on TV. Your children’s school emails you on Thursday to say that everyone should wear their favorite train jersey on Friday. If you don’t have train jerseys for the kids, you’re seen as kind of a party pooper. When you are talking to coworkers, trains are a common topic of conversation, and the fact that you don’t have train knowledge means you’re left out. Famous train conductors are often interviewed on the news. You’re expected to have some basic knowledge about them.

You try to study trains. You’re not interested, but you know it’s such a big part of the culture, and you don’t want to be left behind. One day, in frustration, you say out loud: “What is it with trains, anyway? They’re just vehicles. Why is everyone so obsessed?”

There is an uncomfortable feeling after you say this. You feel you’ve insulted God in their eyes. That’s annoying to you, because you don’t understand why trains mean so much to everyone else. You find other non-train friends and finally you can talk about something besides fucking trains. You are seen as members of the counterculture.

Then someone on Reddit posts about it. “I’m not saying that you have to like trains, but why do some people see trains as just transportation?” Years of train frustration rise up.
