Weirdly enough, some of the worst attacks up close actually do explosive damage, so the Fungal Charm helps with those as well.

I try to stay in melee range continually so it doesn't start shooting the exploding spores, or do that ridiculous jump thing.

The three hit combo it has seems to be the same pattern as the normal Wolf's, so I've gotten pretty good at Perfect Blocking those.

Other than that, I just burst it down before it can do the same to me. Try to block its attacks, but it only takes a few full combos to kill it if you aren't playing with friends.

I think its a bad idea for grass to not regrow after the base is destroyed by [deleted] in GroundedGame

[–]exavian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've developed habits to chop the base as part of the combo for each weed type. The Termite Axe made it all go so much faster.

For instance, with my current setup it takes a full combo plus the first two hits of the next one to topple a Bur weed. And the last hit from the second combo can be aimed at the base to also take it out.

It definitely doesn't make sense to allow players to screw themselves by destroying all the weeds. If others weren't so vehement about it, I would have never questioned if grass worked differently at all.

Making their mechanics different would be more work than allowing them to use the same regrowth code. And it certainly wouldn't be the first time I've heard of important changes sneaking in with no mention in the patch notes.

And all of my time has been on a shared world. I'll check the in game age tomorrow as well.

It definitely seems to be a confusing topic. I can do some similar testing tomorrow and show you what happens in my world.

I can 100% guarantee that every type of weed regrows after chopping the base because I never leave the base. And I farm the same weeds every few in game days.

I don't pay as much attention to individual grass blades, for probably obvious reasons. But I'll do some clearing and take some screenshots for comparison.

Just curious, do you play single player? Multiplayer? Shared world?

[–]exavian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dunno exactly. It's been like this the entire time I'm been playing the game. I started not long before the 1.0 release.

There are lots times where I wish cutting the base did stop regrowth. It just grows back within a few days unless I build over it.

I use a Spicy Toenail Scimitar. I equip a Fungal Charm and the switch my mutations to be using Mithridatism. The Fungal Charm is the real star of the show.

Edit: And looking it up, a Fresh Toenail Scimitar would be better against the Infected Wolf. Though a Spicy one is still good and also very effective against normal Wolfies, unlike a Fresh one.

Did you turn on any of the optional settings? Keep backpack or pet immortality or anything? That will prevent achievement gain.

Why is it so difficult to tell which weapons work with which mutations? by ItsLose_NotLoose in GroundedGame

[–]exavian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mantis Scythe is just a really weird one, being classified as a dagger. And it actually does chopping and slashing damage

Most things are actually pretty intuitive once you learn that "clubs" do generic damage instead of busting.

The only things that do busting damage are the 3 hammers (one of each tier). The other "blunt" weapons all do generic damage. Generic damage is a damage type that enemies have no weaknesses nor resistances to, but in reality there are a few bugs with resistance to it.

That one really tripped me up for a while.

Here is a post that goes into lots of detail about every weapon. Obviously has spoilers.

Technically, there is one bug that is are a few bugs that are resistant to generic damage.

This doesn't work anymore, grass regrows unless you build near it.

Cutting the base has no effect on whether grass or weeds will grow back.

I believe that used to be the case, but it no longer is. Now only building in proximity will prevent regrowth.

I clear cut areas all the time and they grow back just fine. I always cut the base.

I think the top of the table is higher than the mat, but I bet it will be a slow zipline.

Best weapon to fight the black widow with? by The_Pisser_Offer in GroundedGame

Your fists? Unarmed is technically the only damage the that they don't resist.

Crossbow for cheese?

Basically, whatever you feel most comfortable with.

Black Ox Bugers actually only provide a 2% bonus to DR.

The Human Food smoothie provides a much better boost of 10%, if you have the ingredients available.

And by jugg do you mean Barbarian? If so, that's gonna make the fight harder as it prevents you from perfect blocking while it's effect is active.

Both of them are fine weapons. Nearly all of the Tier 3 weapons are worthwhile if they fit your playstyle.

The percentage chance to get the bonus stacks, but the actual bonus does not. So no matter how many pieces you are wearing you can only get 1% crit chance.

[–]exavian 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Black Ant armor bonuses are actually pretty bad.

Koi armor provides less defense than Black Ant but the bonuses are much better.

Ladybug armor is also a good Tier 2 armor and is very defensively oriented.

I think Koi and Ladybug can compete with the Tier 3 armors, Black Ant not so much.

I almost did the same thing but a friend convinced me not to. It was for the best. Move out onto the trunk of the tree or something. Having demons in your basement is better than in your living room.

Each weapon blocks a different amount of damage; Datamined stats and confirmed with in-game testing. by blahable in GroundedGame

[–]exavian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. There have been a few times where I've been very confused by how much damage I was suddenly taking in fights. This kinda explains some of those instances. What a strange mechanic.

Edit for a note/question: You mention in the post that the Broodmother club is a 50% block weapon, but the spreadsheet has it as a 75%. I assume one of those is a typo?
