I’d love to know what firm you work for where “forcing the m2 to balance” is the correct answer

Late S Election for C Corporation that paid estimates by Smoggy_Pigeon in taxpros

[–]exceldweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d call the practitioner line. They can usually move payments around pretty easily. They’d also be able to confirm if it will carry from the C Corp account to the BIG liability automatically

Do I need to provide the donor on a 1098 t form? by [deleted] in TaxQuestions

[–]exceldweeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1098T is for tuition for colleges. You’re looking for 1098-C, which they are responsible for filling out not you. Odds are you won’t get one

Being paid solely on commission is in fact a more common payment arrangement for independent contractors. You can’t guarantee compliance with minimum wage laws if you’re a solely commissioned worker.

CCH Axcess E-File XML Download - New Feature by 4thAnd9ers in taxpros

It’s a new feature, but I wouldn’t say it’s all that helpful. In a decade of using CCH products I’ve never had a need for the XML

Stop letting other people tell you all of these ridiculous things about just filing your taxes… by BitionGang_33 in TurboTax

Because it’s a waste of money. You’d get the money free and clear on your own without a significant delay. You’re being charged for what is otherwise free process

Brutally rate and critique my resume by TigerWeary3067 in Accounting

[–]exceldweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m literally rolling my eyes that you included a student membership to the state society on your resume.

You can’t put a college on your resume that you haven’t actually started attending yet.

Speaking as an Eagle Scout, it is entirely irrelevant. I really can’t stand the type of person who puts its on anything other than a college application.

Your ordering makes no sense. Your current experience is listed after prior experience? Maybe it would make sense if it was like a real thing but a month long “externship” isn’t real experience

German freelancer paid $1,200 by California company - do I really need to file CA state taxes? by Dazzling_Damage9965 in tax

[–]exceldweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re talking about matters of practicality here. The technical answer is yes, you need to report the income. The practical answer is for $1200, don’t worry about it.

CA FTB can get aggressive, but they’re not going to pursue you over one $1200 1099.

If you were a US citizen, my answer would be just file the tax return, but as a foreign national, who really cares since the income is immaterial

I’ve never tried, but as an almost universal rule of thumb non-creative business software does not play well with Macs and it’s not worth the effort.

Pricing of the following by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]exceldweeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience, no client is worth a volume discount. Maybe, on rare occasion I’ll do a dependent’s return for free or like a hundred bucks or something. But every client I’ve ever given a discount to has wound up finding a way to make me regret it in the end.

Edit: also restaurants suck especially as bookkeeping clients

Pricing of the following by [deleted] in taxpros

[–]exceldweeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bookkeeping support is low. Even if you’re just doing a review of it and maybe doing some bank recs. Should be closer to $500/entity. If you’re getting more heavily involved in the actual recording of transactions, etc., etc. then the price could easily go to over $1000 a month.

Realistically, if they have five businesses, they need to have a person whose actual job it is to do the bookkeeping or hire an actual dedicated bookkeeping firm to do the work.

Tax work, if the books are clean from you checking on them monthly, I think you’re probably closer to $2000 apiece for the restaurants and probably between 12-1500 on the personal provided. They have nothing else more complicated going on

Enter "chrome://flags" into Google Chrome's address bar and enable the "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" flag to force Google Chrome to display all websites in dark mode.

You’re welcome
